ABOUT RUSKIN LODGE SOUTH The lodge is cosy, well-equipped & comfortably furnished. Perfect for friends, families, couples and outdoor enthusiasts who are looking for a relaxing escape to a part of the country surrounded by ancient forests, epic mountains, scenic lochs and a pretty coastline. Guests are provided with the use of hotel-quality luxury towels, bed linen and superfast fibre broadband at no extra cost. You can relax on a private, covered veranda and take in the surrounding forests and mountains. We regularly see red squirrels, many types of unusual birds and deer. ARE YOUR DATES ALREADY BOOKED? We look forward to welcoming you to Ruskin Lodge South! *KITCHEN* Electric hob, grill, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, full sized fridge/freezer, dishwasher and coffee maker. Mugs, coffee cups, plates (flat, side & pasta), bowls, cutlery, pots & pans, glasses, cooking utensils and serving dishes. Cooking oil, salt, pepper and a starter pack of tea, coffee and sugar will be supplied. Alcove dining area for six people. *LIVING ROOM* Comfortable seating for six people. Spacious and light lounge with 42” TV / DVD player, streaming device (so you can log in to your Netflix, Sky or Amazon Prime account), hi-fi with radio, books, films and board games. HDMI cable for TV so you can link it to your laptop or games console. *BEDROOM 1 - MASTER* King sized bed, electric blanket, wash hand basin, wardrobe and chest of drawers. *BEDROOM 2 - TWIN* Two full sized single beds suitable for adults or children, electric blankets, wardrobe and chest of drawers. *BEDROOM 3 - TWIN* Two full sized single beds suitable for adults or children, electric blankets, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Travel cot available. *BATHROOM* Electric shower, bath, wash hand basin. Luxury hand towels, bath towels & face cloths are supplied. *OUTDOOR SPACE* Covered and gated veranda with views of the surrounding forest and mountains. Table and chairs for six people, parking spaces for two/three cars. *EXTRAS* Cot with mattress (please bring your own bedding), baby bath, changing mat and high chair available. Washing machine / dryer. Superfast fibre broadband. Guests are given full access to all areas of the lodge but we ask that you only use the bedrooms you need. We include £10 per night fair use electricity allowance in every booking, with any excess taken from your deposit at the end of your stay. We are an ethical self-catering business. The lodges were purpose-built as holiday homes and were only granted planning permission on the grounds that they couldn't be used to live in year-round. Beautiful wooden lodge in outstanding scenery and wildlife. Seeing Red Squirrels was a fantastic experience as I'd not seen any for many, many years. Comfortable warm beds in larger than expected bedrooms. The cabin is next to a path that is great for taking the dogs for a walk and is next to the awesome Puck's Glen. Abigail is a great host and I look forward to going back soon.
Abigail's place is in a lovely spot, near some nice walks and with some great wildlife outside. The cabin has everything you need and Abigail left us a nice little basket of treats for our arrival!
We enjoyed a 4 night break here with our 2 little girls. We had a wonderful time! The cottage is so peaceful but there is a lot to do in the area. Very well set up for families or couple. Our girls didn’t want to leave. Abigail is a wonderful host who couldn’t do enough for us. X
Everything lived up to our expectations based on descriptions. It was ideal for dog walks and great for children to ride their bikes. Beautiful scenery and many local walking routes. Be prepared for a changeable climate. Just bring the right clothes.
Excellent stay at this beautiful and well maintained log cabin. The location was fantastic with walks at Pulks Glen, Benmore Botanic Gardens and a dip in Loch Eck a standout on our trip. Communication from Abigail was perfect and we look forward to returning the cabins this year !.

The famous Puck's Glen walking trails begin behind the lodges and Benmore Botanical Gardens are a short walk away along a scenic track. The lodge is one of a small group that form the quiet, privately-owned Lamont Lodges which see many visitors returning year after year.
Tourists 'in-the-know' stay in Cowal. It is a haven for wildlife with red squirrels, otters and rare bird species inhabiting some of Scotland's most unspoilt and dramatic landscapes. Within a small area you can explore sandy beaches, rugged hills, lush ancient forests and impressive mountain ranges.
There are also an excellent range of outdoor activities, including golf, fishing, horse-riding, mountain-biking and stalking, and visitors can enjoy many cultural events including the Cowal Highland Games, the largest in the world, in August each year.
There are some excellent restaurants, cafes and inns in the area as well as traditional shops, tourist facilities and indoor activities in the nearby town of Dunoon.
Puck's Glen and Benmore Botanical Gardens are within easy walking distance of the lodge and a regular bus service links many of the villages and sites around the lodge. There is a passenger ferry between Dunoon and Gourock and a car ferry between Hunters Quay and McInroy's Point. The roads in the immediate area are relatively flat so if you have a bike, you might want to use it to get around.

I live in Strone with my husband Colin. We bought Ruskin Lodge North after many months of searching back in 2013. We loved the peaceful area, fantastic landscapes and wildlife, but also liked that we could get to shops and other facilities so easily too. In fact, we loved the area so much that in September 2015 we moved to Cowal and are now proud to be 'locals'! In 2021 we bought Puck's Lodge, now called 'Ruskin Lodge South'.
