Advert description was 10 minute walk to Dunfermline high street & Dunfermline Abbey, close walk to train stations etc. We live in Australia and had no intention of booking car hire for our 6 day visit and so location ticked all our boxes. It’s a 34 minute power walk into the high street along a main road. Alan assured us he has now fixed this as it should’ve read “10 min by car”. The house is not set up as an “experience” more of a boarding operation. Inside the house is tired (dirt around light switches, scuff marks all over the walls, holes and chips in the paint. Very well used furniture, old linen and bedding with stained pillow case. The deck is over run with weeds, mismatched and broken garden furniture. Geyser or heating also constantly tapping throughout the day/night. On a plus check in is generally 6pm but Alan was able to work his magic & authorised us 4pm check in on provision we mentioned it in the review.

This little and simple semi-detached house does exactly what it says on the tin. Nothing super fancy but absolutely great. Has a great view. The only thing that was surprising is that the house is a bit creaky, which was a bit exciting on a halloween weekend.

Great place to stay that is close to a lot of different attractions and not a bad drive to Edinburgh, Sterling, etc. Highly recommend!

Alan’s Place is a lovely and quite place , Alan is a nice guy and was helpful. The house has pretty much got everything you need in there. I would recommend and i will stay again hopefully soon or in the near future.
