Stunning place - a destination you may not want to leave! Best accessed by 4WD although drive is well maintained. Perfectly located for day trips around Takaka and Kaiteriteri. Mark was a perfect host. Excellent communication. We’ll be back!

You really have to visit to appreciate the views from this home. We loved watching the ever-changing weather patterns(!), the bird life and the tranquility. Our children played numerous games of pool, the sound system and t,v. were great for Friday movie night and listening to Spotify. The kitchen is well kitted out with everything thing you need including small appliances (I got to try an air fryer for the first time) and the spaciousness and open plan layout made it a pleasure to cook. Highly recommended.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Mark’s place. The view is absolutely stunning and the remote location on a steep hillside is very very unique. The house itself was good (minor fixes pending), exceptionally well equipped, with bright open windows overlooking the beautiful landscape, an open kitchen and living layout, and comfortable rooms. Mark was a great host and was readily available to answer questions. This great property comes with quite a drive up Tākaka hill and down the house’s own very steep gravel road, which could be cumbersome for some people. On the flip side, once on the property you are in a different world with all that this implies. It is worth noting that there are operating hours for the jacuzzi worth inquiring about, as they may present limitations for some. For us (parents of small children) by the time we were ready to unwind, the jacuzzi was technically “closed”. Overall very fond memories and inspiring place.

Kea Ridge is a breathtakingly beautiful piece of paradise! The photos do not do this place justice. The views and surroundings are incredible. The place is peaceful and spacious. Great location to go either side of the Tākaka Hill for activities. Mark is a great host, couldn’t recommend more. Thank-you for having us!

This is a magnificent place to stay - Five star! The top of Takaka hill and literally three minutes drive from the Howards hole cave system - world class spot! Our arrival and check in was effortless and we arrived in a 4x motion SUV which we never needed to turn on 4WD (guess if its dry and your not too low then you maybe OK). However upon entry we came to find each bedroom was locked except just the master bedroom which was quite a surprise to us because we needed a multi bedroom due to our specific circumstances with pregnancy plus we had already paid to have access to at least two of these bedrooms. This is not typical air bnb practice but we shrugged it away and continued to enjoy the spectacular house and humbling location. All these issues aside I do recommend this as a place to stay.
