Met with Lois, the maternal leader at the lodge, and she was incredibly friendly and informative. There is a very large common kitchen facility but we didn’t use this at all. There is a feel of a few things being under renovation outside. The grounds are amazing for watching birds. Good sized lake with anhinga, herons, ducks and various songbirds (no feeders though). Amazing couple story viewing platform for watching sunrise and lake wildlife. I didn’t understand the room layout before I came but it is based on mostly a number of rooms from single story house that that have been converted to separate lodge rooms with outside entrances that mostly open up onto the lake. When we arrived I got out and circumnavigated the place by foot to figure out where my room was (and fortunately remembered the name of it). If you have a letter assigned to the room you rent, remember it as there are parking spaces assigned by letter (not big deal when I was there). GREAT location for birding.

Amazing location. Very peaceful and the host are very supportive of the community so this is a great stay for outsiders and locals all alike !

I did not personally meet Nicola, but I did meet Isaac, who was a very sweet man. He was very friendly and greeted us as we arrived. He let us know about the community kitchen that was on the property and allowed us to get some snacks.

The proximity to nature and bird watching was exactly as advertised. Peaceful, restful and totally enjoyable would be my honest opinion. I’ll definitely be back.
