The location is superb, Mabel is super nice, and the vibe here is so good. However...... the listing is not accurate. The rental is 2 bedrooms (that are connected by an open doorway) with a bathroom that is accessed through one of the bedrooms, in the downstairs of a SHARED house. You do get a private entrance, but when we were there, there was no lock for the door. The kitchen is OUTSIDE and SHARED by other guests. In our case, it was 20 campers that played very loud music all night (there is also no glass in the windows, so there is no way to block out noise, the house speaker is right outside the bedroom window). When we arrived, there was no water in the pool (part of the reason we booked this place was so my son could swim. The lack of water should have been communicated ahead of time!), and we had no tap water the first night. This place has water issues. It turned off on me 3 nights later while I was all soaped up in the shower! The listing suggests that breakfast is included, it is not. The kitchen was dirty, the water barely trickled out of the faucet, the refrigerator was not cold. The listing said 4 beds, there were only 3 with very minimal bedding. There were no towels or soap as listed, the drains in the bathroom were clogged up, etc, etc. I am willing to put up with all this if the place is priced accordingly, but it is much too expensive. I asked her if she would offer us a discount due to all of the above, and she was unwilling. Sadly, when the water shut off the 2nd time, we ended up leaving early and moving across the street.

Mabel is amazing. If we had any questions she was happy to help out. This was my third time coming out to Potrero Chico and this has become our favourite place to stay. Would definitely stay again if we return. Great location and good wifi. Hot water worked great once we learnt how to turn the water pump on.

Mabel's spot is an excellent location, about as close to the crag as you can get without a portaledge! She is very sweet and the vibe is full of good energy. She is still renovating the place though, so the plumbing and hot water were finicky. Her place has great potential and if you don't mind a bit rustic accommodations, then you will surely have a good time and also make a good friend. Muy chidas!

Mabel is a wonderful host and her place is gorgeous. Wonderful energy, and feels fairly secluded while still being about as close to the climbing as one can get and easy walking distance to some restaurants. Loved my stay.

An excellent place to stay in Portrero and as close as it gets to the climbing. Mabel the host is awesome! She will make you feel at home and the place is an oasis of good energy at the heart of the canyon. The house is perfect for a small group to have as a private place to base out of and there is also plenty of outside yard space and a pool to relax. Good wifi and hot water.
