This unique house built with wood and a traditional Mexican palapa, is surrounded by trees with a view of the distant sea. Power is from a small solar system. It is built on land belonging to a healing centre (where you can receive acupuncture, osteopathy, yoga and temazcals) but the only house nearby is the owner’s. Located half a kilometre up a dirt track, it is just a 5 min drive to the village of Mazunte. There is wildlife and you may see animals on the paths, terrace or in the house. This beautiful house was built using natural materials including wood, brick, stone and a palm. It has two large bedrooms, kitchen, study area and a bathroom, plus two terraces. The house is light and airy with a breeze from the sea most of the days. The bedrooms and kitchen are 95% sealed with mosquito netting. The terraces have a table with seating, two outdoor sofas and a hammock with plenty of space for yoga/exercise. It is a perfect spot for meditation, relaxation and watching the amazing birds. Some are particularly noisy - like Chachalacas- a sort of turkey that lives in the trees. The kitchen is well equipped with a good range of utensils, crockery, blender and a gas cooker with oven; but no fridge. You are provided with a large ice box for storing food. We provide Oaxaqueñan coffee and a french press to prepare it. A limited supply of electricity comes from solar panels, perfect for lights and charging phones and laptops. It does NOT allow for fans. All waste water goes to a biodigester and supplies water and nutrients to trees and plants at the back. WiFi is available but there is no phone signal. The WiFi signal cannot be guaranteed as all phone/internet services in this coastal area are irregular. We can not be responsible for this. The owner's smaller house is at the back separated by bushes - guayacanes, and a terrace. Note: this house was recently renovated after receiving serious damage during a hurricane in May 2022. Previous guests saw a slightly different house. November 2023 and we are happy to be able to share the space again!

There is something very peaceful about this place! The house is comfortable with a very pleasant outdoor space. It’s located in the middle of the trees, surrounded by beautiful nature and birds with an incredible view. Perfect for slowing down and resting while still being close to Mazunte town. Elisa has been very nice and available, sharing clear instructions and good recommendations. We loved this airbnb so much that we barely left it during our stay :)
Sinceramente nos encanto el alojamiento, si quieres privacidad y tranquilidad de verdad es de lo mejor, claro que hay insectos y mosquitos pero nada que te ponga en peligro, las habitaciones eran cómodas y estaban limpias, realmente no ocupamos nada mas que las habitaciones y el baño, sin embargo cuenta con todos los servicios que anuncia, en fin Elisa también estaba al pendiente y es amigable, realmente no se arrepentirán de escoger esta casa.
El lugar es muy bonito. Una estancia increíble.
Hermosa cabaña rodeada de naturaleza con un paisaje sonoro inigualable. Elisa siempre estuvo al pendiente, brinda recomendaciones y nos ayudó en todo lo que le solicitamos. Sin duda regresaría.
Had such a wonderful, peaceful, restorative stay at Elisa's sweet sweet palapa-cabin just outside Mazunte! Was a little worried about the distance (~10 min drive from Mazunte, 25 to Playa Zipolite), but this ended up being perfect, as the house truly felt like a retreat from the clamor. The building is simple yet beautifully done and the atmosphere is paradisiacal (the views! the birds! the green!). Her dogs were super sweet, and if they barked a little at night, they also kept us feeling safe & looked after :) Keep in mind there's no hot water—though most of the year you wouldn't even want it; we were there in the coldest time of the year and just tried to shower during the day, when it was still plenty warm enough to warrant cold water. And FYI the dirt road/driveway is a little bumpy, so if you go during the rainy season, you'll probably want a 4x4. Tl;dr, Would come back to this part of the country just for another retreat at Elisa's!

Nearby is Centro Nijo, a healing centre offering a variety of treatments. Just 2 min walk through the woods.
The nearest beach is Ventanilla with miles of sand and a lagoon where you can take a boat tour to see the crocodiles, birds and other wildlife. 5 min drive.
Mazunte Pueblo Magico and the protected reserve Punta Cometa are 5 - 10 minutes away by car. In Mazunte there is a range of restaurants and cafes providing a selection of meals and takeaways. During the day, there are a variety of classes on offer, notably yoga and dance.
In the surrounding area, there are several beaches with boat tours to see turtles, whales and dolphins, paddle boarding, snorkelling, surfing and skimboarding.
We are set just outside of any town, so having your own transport is preferable. Public collective taxis and 'pasajeras' are available on the main road (just 3 min walk from the house). However, they only run during daylight hours. After dark, you can book with private taxi drivers for transport.
We can occasionaly arrange for a private taxi pick-up and drop off at either Puerto Escondido or Huatulco airport.
