This is a stunning thatched barn conversion in a lovely rural area with a fully enclosed garden and a large meadow woodland. The cottage has two private enclosed gardens to catch the morning and afternoon sun, there is also a large wildflower meadow and wooded garden for you to enjoy. There are lovely countryside footpaths from the cottage, so this is a great place to bring your doggie. Deepwell is set in the pretty vale of Buxhall and is a magical countryside retreat. The entrance to Deepwell Granary is via the private off road car park and through to the enclosed garden with its fire pit and outside seating area. The front door takes you into a cloakroom hallway, with the luxury shower bathroom to one side and the main room straight ahead. Downstairs is a large double height open plan room with the original timber frame exposed, and a large floor to ceiling window with views to the pretty back garden. The comfortable sofa faces a cosy gas flame fire – this being a sensible alternative to a wood burning one due to the ancient, thatched roof. The room forms an L shape and within that is a modern well laid out kitchen. Leading from this beautiful and airy ground floor is an open staircase which brings you to the gallery level, containing the luxury bedroom and reading area, this overlooks the open plan area beneath and out onto the garden. The Gardens: You have two private enclosed garden to enjoy meals, or sit beside the fire pit and relax with an evening drink. Just off the private drive to Deepwell Granary is the entrance to a magical two acre area of grassy woodland glades, lawns and orchard. Here you can take a stroll around, swing from trees, lie in a big hammock, or light up the fire pit and enjoy a sun downer by the pretty French table and chairs, and enjoy the views over the rolling countryside. If you are feeling a bit more active then you can play boules, badminton or croquet as there is ample space and all equipment is supplied. Outside: Set in the rural Vale of Buxhall, surrounded by gentle rolling hills and views across the fields; Deepwell Granary is in an area of beautiful countryside, woods and arable farmland. There are plenty of footpaths for walking, local picturesque villages to visit and good pubs to investigate. Green Credentials: The restoration and renovation of this historic listed building was carried out by local craftsmen specialising in Historic renovation, they made use of many reclaimed materials where possible and used many traditional building methods. The cottage has its own wastewater treatment system. The owners are keen gardeners and have lovely vegetable areas and friendly free-range chickens. The grounds are a haven for many birds and small animals and a patient guest will see a wide array of wildlife there.

Beautiful cottage and a welcoming host who was responsive when needed. Very cosy atmosphere inside although smaller than pictures make it look. Beautiful cosy bed and bedding and fairy lights finish it off. Sadly the cottage was right on the side of the main road and very noisy at busy times. The fire pit and bbq area is in the owners garden so not private which made us feel a little uncomfortable and unable to unwind and relax. We had to ask where the facilities were as they were not readily available. No hammock or swing in sight. The private garden was pleasant although you can’t bbq in here. The garden is enclosed, some areas only with chicken wire which was not enough to keep my dog escaping. The large woodland meadow is nothing more than a few trees in the owners garden and you only have access to the far end. It leads on to fields which you can’t walk in. No safe walking routes without walking down a busy country road. Heating on timers leaving it freezing at times. Such a shame

We went there to get away from it all over new year’s eve, with our dog. Completely met the brief. Set away from the noise, but cosy with all of the home comforts. An hour from the coast, 20 minutes from the woods…perfect for dog days out

Had a great week in this beautiful barn conversion. Loved the exposed beams, the comfy bed and the light and airy feel. We were blessed with lovely weather so enjoyed sitting out in the seating areas at the front and back of the barn. A little bit of noise audible from the attached barn and adjoining road but this did not dimish our enjoyment. Recommend The Brewers at nearby Rattlesden for a special occasion or last night meal.

The impressive Historic market town of Bury St Edmunds has a very rich history and many impressive buildings to explore like the Abbey Gardens, The Cathedral, Moyse’s House, The Theatre Royal, The Green King Brewery and the big street Market on Saturdays as well as good shops and restaurants.
Bury St Edmunds is just a 20-minute drive away.
If you feel like going out we provide bikes to explore the tiny country lanes and pubs.
The famous Medieval Villages of Kersey, Lavenham and Long Melford are a short drive away.
Deepwell Granary is just 3 miles from the Historic town of Stowmarket.
The unspoilt Suffolk Coast is just under an hour away with lovely places to explore like Orford, Shingle Street, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness
The local pub which we loved has closed and is waiting for a new owner (The Crown at Buxhall).
I would say that The Leaping Hare is a garanteed great place to have Sunday Lunch.
All day opening, seasonal menu, daily specials and an extensive wine list, you can enjoy good food from local, regional suppliers. The menu also changes regularly. An open fire, oak beams and furnishings compliment the traditional 17th century building, creating a warm cosy feel.
The Leaping Hare – Wyken IP31 2DW
Where possible they try to source ingredients from within a five mile radius, so the beef and lamb are local and where possible from the Wyken farm. Wild game, venison, pheasant, partridge, rabbit and pigeon are from the estate and fruit, herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden.
The restaurant is all part of Wyken Vinyards and you can also visit their Farmers market, shops and sample their excellent own wines
Here is the run down of local places:
The Dog – Norton IP31 3LP
Pea Porridge – Bury St Edmunds IP33 1JR
Pea Porridge is an award winning restaurant set in a quiet residential street in Bury St Edmunds. The restaurant has a wonderful warm rustic feel to it, very down to earth and unpretentious and the food is delicious!
The Crown – Bildeston, IP7 7EB
A real treat located in the heart of Suffolk’s picturesque countryside, close to the wool towns of Lavenham and Hadleigh. It is an original 15th century coaching inn which was imaginatively renovated and refurbished in 2003. The Crown offers fine food in splendid beamed surroundings either in the bar or in its stunning restaurant.
The Butt & Oyster – Ipswich IP9 1JW
The Butt & Oyster at Pin Mill is right on the picturesque harbour on the Orwell Estuary. An atmospheric pub with lots of great seafood and lovely walks. The Suffolk Barns and Jimmy’s Farm are so close this really is a good day out. There is a window on the river side of the pub where the boats can moor up and order a pint from the bar!
The Swan – Woolpit IP30 9QN
An old coaching inn in the village square. Good food from daily changing blackboard menu and Adnams beer served from a slate top bar. Enjoy a glass of wine in the walled garden on a summers evening.
Other excellent pubs are:
The Brewers in Rattlesden
The Kings arms in Haughley
Crown in Stowupland
Chestnut horse in Great Finborough

Local Towns and Villages:
Bury St Edmunds (12 miles, 20 minutes drive) –
An important town in East Anglia and once home to the most powerful monastery of medieval England. The town and suburbs were originally established to service the abbey. Now Bury St Edmunds survives as a prosperous town and borough. Visit the street market on Wednesday and Saturday, or go for the good shops and restaurants. Take a guided walk of the pretty pedestrianised town centre along streets flanked by pretty medieval buildings. There are a variety of fairs and festivals throughout the year, an Arts Festival in May, Food and Drink in August and a Christmas Fayre in December. Have a tour of the Greene King Brewery which produces the local beer. There are plenty of things to see and do in this pretty historic town.
Stowmarket (3.5 miles, 9 minutes drive) –
Stowmarket grew as a market town and has a railway station with good connections to London Liverpool Street and Cambridge. There is a street market throughout the day every Thursday and Saturday. The John Peel Centre for Creative Arts has a regular programme of music, comedy and theatre. There is a cinema to catch the latest film release. The Museum of East Anglian Life set in the heart of Stowmarket, on a 75 acre estate, gives an insight into the history and rural life in the region.
Rattlesden (2 miles, 5 minutes drive) –
The prominent flint church sits overlooking the village. There is a post office with a small shop useful for picking up a pint of milk. It is a lovely small village to take a walk around and see the charming thatched cottages and medieval buildings. Have a pint in the local pub!
Lavenham (11 miles, 24 minutes drive) –
Lavenham is a Suffolk wool town. It is a picturesque town lined with medieval timber framed buildings and excellent restaurants. Visit the Natural Trust Guildhall Corpus Christi, an impressive timber framed building overlooking the Market Place. The Little Hall, a yellow beamed 14th C house is also an interesting place to visit.

自我介绍

Hi I’m Mark After travelling the world I decided to settle down in Suffolk twenty years ago and started my own little business with a beautiful old derelict farm complex, which I converted into six lovely little cottages for people to escape from city life and enjoy the wonderfully rural experience that this area amazingly has, even with its close proximity to London. I love what I do and am ‘Hands On’ with welcoming guests to my own six cottages, as well as looking after my Cottage Agency that soon developed as other owners came asking me to take on their cottages and give them the same level of personal customer care, attention and promotion that we are known and appreciated for. I don’t want to be a huge company, I’m very happy to have a small agency where personal involvement is always the priority and where I can pick only places which I love and know inside out to join us. I am always available to answer any questions and above everything else I want you to be in a cottage that suits you, so you will become our ambassador. Please do ask me a question about this cottage and I will give you a very honest answer. Best Wishes Mark The Grove Cottages
