Worst AirBnB I’ve ever stayed in. During “check-in”, my husband was cornered outside by a self-declared male friend of the host who droned on for an eternity - while my husband stood juggling armloads of bags with no offer of assistance. We had to unload our car by climbing precarious, uneven cement steps to get inside with our belongings. We were only ever given a key to the back door. The home had an offensive odor, though it did appear tidy at first glance. It smelled like old musty clothing or furniture and reminded me of a thrift store. The bed was old, lumpy and hard (and a double, not a Queen)- it had no sheets on it our first night, to which the host told me to look around, that she had plenty of sheets. We were given one ragged, thin towel apiece for an 8 night stay. The washer/dryer “in the building” are down a steep, rickety flight of stairs into a filthy basement cluttered with junk where I banged my head several times on low hung pipes. It was not only creepy, but very difficult to navigate with an armload of clothes. The toaster oven was dirty, and we began seeing spiders and noticing large webs and bugs throughout the house- including the bedroom as I was about to go to sleep. When I messaged the host, she belittled me and sarcastically asked what she was supposed to do about spiders. We had to finally get AirBnB involved and relocated to much a nicer, equally priced property 4 days early after 3 sleepless, uncomfortable and unpleasant nights. This visit to CT was to see family and was an important part of our honeymoon. We spent it being miserable, sleep-deprived, uncomfortable and stressed out. We finally were able to get AirBnB to intervene and refund the remainder of our trip so we could book elsewhere. This host should not be renting out this house. She has no clue how to provide a warm welcome, an inviting atmosphere, nor the basic comforts for her guests. In my opinion, she’s interested only in squeezing every dollar she can out of of her victims and took no responsibility for the appalling conditions we endured.

Owner was extremely communicative prior to and during stay. Her home is spotlessly clean and has tons of natural light. Two very comfortable beds, a well appointed kitchen, and clean bathroom. Tastefully decorated and impeccably maintained. The listing is on one floor if stairs are a concern. The house has modern amenities and tons of MCM charm. I especially loved the original light fixtures in the bedrooms. Huge TV in the living room (my tween was happy). Good for couples and small families. Given the delicate nature of some of the hosts items, would not be suitable for rambunctious toddlers. Lots of space for parking and nice sized, well maintained yard. It is quiet for a side street off a main route (10) and conveniently located to 91, 95, and 15. We would stay again if the host would have us. You will find this is a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. EDITED TO ADD: There is a $200 cleaning fee AND a $250 deposit. They are both listed in the post. I did not hear from the owner about my deposit over 48 hours after our check out. I requested the deposit be returned using the app, which is the same way it was paid. It has been over 24 hours since I asked. We didn't wear shoes in her house and our cooking was only heating up spaghetti sauce, so I can't imagine why it's being held. I washed every dish and cup we used and even offered to strip the beds to save her time. Since airbnb only gives you 48 hours to edit, I want to make sure this is mentioned before I lose the chance to edit.
