Shamana is a beautiful, tranquil place to stay, with wonderful views of the lake. It is very private and secure so feels safe, however neither of the hosts were around during my stay and I think I was the only guest at one point. Lucia was very friendly and available sometimes to help and the only-site laundry was a big plus. The kitchen is well stocked and useful and the room was comfortable and lovely. I came during the week of San Marcos Feria so unfortunately it was very noisy at times due to fireworks and bombas at all times of day and night. I appreciated the white noise machine provided in the bedroom. The one thing I wasn’t so keen on was the fact that the bathroom was outside and upstairs from my room so it was not convenient, especially at night! This was not made clear in the description. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Shamana and would return, thank you :)

This place is absolutely stunning! The view from the platform is breathtaking and one of the best ones that we saw in San Marcos. The place is clean and there’s a kitchen you can use and cook your own food, they also have really good filtered water that you can drink. We went to kirtan there and it felt very authentic. The hosts were kind and even helped me out when I got sick with food and helpful information. You are basically in the jungle so don’t be surprised if you see a spider or two, they just keep to the walls and do nothing to you. Would really recommend this place if you’re ever in San Marcos.

Shamana was the most lovely place I stayed in all of Guatemala. The space was sparkling clean and I really appreciated the fully-stocked kitchen! Beyond that, the whole space was incredibly aesthetic. I extended my stay because I couldn’t bear to part with Shamana! Eran and Batya are wonderful, very attentive hosts. Let this be you sign to book here, its been the highlight of my trip!
