Traditional semi-detatched Charentaise home situated in a small French village surrounded by vineyards, close to the Gironde Estuary in the Charente Maritime. 3 double bedrooms (1 on ground floor), a family bathroom and shower room (on ground floor), 2 living rooms and large kitchen/dining room. Can accommodate up to 7 people, as the 2nd living room contains a sofa bed and a z-bed. Large outdoor patio and small lawn area with outdoor furniture, BBQ and pop-up pool in summer. The house itself is very traditional, with exposed beams and walls, and traditional French shutters, etc. giving a charming feel. It is partially modernised but not entirely (no fitted kitchen or central heating for instance, although there are electric heaters in every room) so has a rustic aspect, consistent with the local area. The garden is not large, but is well equipped for outdoor living, and benefits from the privacy of an extensive hedge - it is fully enclosed and safe for dogs. The house is at its best in summer, when meals can be eaten, and evenings spent, outdoors. In cold or wet weather the living space may feel more limited. The house has bedrooms for 6 (or 7 with a baby/toddler). However, the sitting room is small, and has a 2 seater sofa and two armchairs, with a couple of additional chairs. There is a second sitting/games room with an extra sofa. Although a relatively quiet area, there are several restaurants and two small port villages within a short drive. Atlantic beaches are within 45 mins drive, with estuary beaches (safe for children) just 30 mins away. Closest towns are the Spa town of Jonzac and historic Saintes. Easy access to Bordeaux and some of the greatest vineyards in the world.
