This was such an amazing stay I have ever been. A Private beach that is serene and less crowded. Rooms are amazing and the patio/balcony kinds in the cottage is amazing. Viraj arranged someone to take us on a really nice hike and remote beach walk in the early morning, We loved this experience. Dinner at the sanctury was out of the world. Their in house local cook made us some lovely local dishes and served us. Everything at this place was amazing. Recommend this place for anybody seeking something offbeat and true local experience.

Unfortunately this place was not for me. Expectations of ‘hilly forest’ were not met, it is more village location with trees on hill. Main problem though was that I had been told that there was plenty to do, but all activities apart from 40 minute walk via village and beach were a minimum 1 hour drive away (car quoted at 3000/ 4000 INR to visit these places). No opportunity to access marine park next door and no other forest walks. Large resort next door doesn’t help with idea of being remote/ in peaceful environment. Corrugated iron roof of room made it very hot in hot season. Lunch and dinner nice but expensive for what it was (INR 1000 for veg, 1500 for non-veg). Sadly owners strongly disagreed with my assessment and I was called ‘negative’ and ‘miserable’, so I left after 1 night. Probably perfect for someone who is happy to not do too much. Seeking activities and supportive hosts, I couldn’t find it here. Andaman’s are amazing, the small islands in particular, stay there!

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour dans un cadre idyllique. Le logement est plongé dans la nature, à quelques pas d’une plage splendide où nous étions la plupart du temps les seuls. Il y a la possibilité de déjeuner/dîner sur place avec une cuisine préparée maison que nous avons beaucoup apprécié. Idéal pour un séjour reposant en dehors de l’agitation.

Sanctuary is the perfect place to decompress in the Andamans. A nature-first approach, clever and thoughtful design integrated with the elements, peace and quiet punctuated with delicious, wholesome meals: the place has it all. Meals are served on gorgeous rustic workbenches by a creek kissed by sweeping palm fronds. We loved doing morning coffee (bracingly good, served in a moka pot) watching the lilies unfurl and dragonflies dip through the foliage. The property is helmed by the incredible Sophia, who made us feel right at home with her kindness, warmth and perceptiveness. The pristine beach is a minute’s walk across the road, reached via a sweet little gazebo equipped with sea-facing deck chairs should you want to enjoy a private sunset. The sunsets are spectacular and the walk up and down the beach takes you past giant ancient trees felled by the tsunami, beautiful caves and clear rock pools teeming with molluscs. To be at Sanctuary is to love it. Thank you for the best holiday.

The place is indescribable because it is nothing like the pictures. Don’t get me wrong. It is so much better than the pictures. They don’t do the place justice. It is as good as your imagination can sum up in your head. I don’t think I will be doing it justice if I begin to describe my experience. It’s a place designed to elevate all five of your senses.
