Well hey there, We’re Mel and Adam (also known as Pearl and Earl) and baby girl Remi and we’re from the beachside bliss of Newcastle New South Wales. We have recently returned home from nearly 4 years of bouncing around the USA exploring some rad destinations, places and spaces. We resided in the Atlanta Georgia area and have so far traveled 26 states, Canada and The Bahamas (not to mention Europe and Asia in previous years) and now that we’re back in Newcastle Australia we have built our very own short stay rental and we’re just a little bit in love it. The Atomic Hideaway was built during the thick of the covid pandemic as we thought we needed a challenge because trying to survive a worldwide pandemic itself wasn’t anxious ridden enough. It’s quirky and cute and packed away behind our main dwelling so we’re not too far away if you need us. The Atomic Hideaway doubles as my creative space (photography studio) but everything is locked away and secure for your stay. Please do not fiddle with any photography equipment on the property, everything is packed away and/or out of reach but we have had 1 guest go above and beyond to break some equipment, to which we had to charge them for. Our Atomic Hideaway is a perfect space to hold your bags and crash if you’re travelling for business and even a fine getaway for a few days. We are a safe and inclusive space and acknowledge and respect the Awabakal people, traditional owners of the land of which we reside. We are walking distance to The Beaumont Street strip which is filled with cafes, pubs, restaurants, retro and vintage stores and night life. We’re about 10mins walk to The Newcastle Exchange Train Station and light rail system too. This light rail system takes you into the thick of Newcastle and even stops close by our famous Beaches. The Newcastle International Airport is about 25mins drive from The Atomic Hideaway so we’re a no brainer for interstate and international travellers. The Hunter Valley (vineyards) is about 50mins up the road and our sister short stay ‘Mala Retreat’ is a wonderful space to stay in the Hunter Valley so keep your eye out for those guys on Air BnB. They have an Uber service on site so great to get you to the music concert series up in the vineyards. Let them know we sent you. Sleeping Arrangements at The Atomic Hideaway: We have a double bed in the main bedroom and a single rollaway bed that’s tucked in the closet of the bedroom. We can also provide a comfortable double inflatable mattress that will lay in the main living area. We dress it with the same high quality linen as the main bed so nothing flimsy here. Please advise upon booking if you require the inflatable mattress set up or if you require the single rollaway setup. Babies and Kiddos: We have a porta-cot available for the little ones but we do ask that you bring your own linen incase ours isn’t enough. We also have the single rollaway bed for those kiddos that are older. We have plenty of toys and games that will keep the kiddos entertained for a bit (the retro console had me playing Tetris and Mario Brothers for houuuurrrrs…) and a collection of retro plush toys that will even have you reminiscing about your own childhood…dependent on your age. We have a Bub-tub, a tub of goodies for <2’s that will help with bath time including bath toys, non-slip matting, bubble bath and more. Please supervise your little babes at all times and please advise upon booking if you are bringing an infant. We are on the second level so have stairs on the exterior of the dwelling and don't want them to slip or fall.
