The cabin is located in Raven Rock Meadows, a quiet little community just a short drive from 421 and very close to state-maintained roads (4WD is a good idea in the winter). You will love the last few miles of your drive to the cabin: down into the river valley, through a large and beautiful cattle farm, and across the bridge over the river where it meanders around large rock formations. You'll find a row of privacy trees between you and the closest neighbors. We know you will just love this place!

Luckily, the cabin is less than two miles away from the nearest state maintained road, and the drive from there to the cabin is mainly flat and navigable during winter weather. With that said, there are a few small hills and a four-wheel drive vehicle in the winter is a good idea. There is a Food Lion very close to the cabin, and downtown Boone is less than 15 minutes away! Other nearby locations include West Jefferson (35 min), Blowing Rock (24 min), Banner Elk (40 min), Sugar Grove (28 min), and Valle Crucis (28 min). Guests will find a much more extensive list of locations and things to do upon arrival to the cabin.
Once or twice a year on average, the river may flood to the point that it runs over the bridge leading into the neighborhood. Guests should keep an eye on the weather and heed all flash flood warnings from the National Weather Service. Luckily, the water usually recedes quickly (after a couple of hours), and the neighborhood is full of helpful people who will clear the bridge of debris if necessary. Guests will find a detailed detour plan if they are unable to access the cabin by the normal route. If guests are unable to access the cabin at any point during their stay and must stay somewhere else for a night, they will be fully reimbursed for that night of their stay with us.
