Check in was ok. We got set up with a driver who waited for us at the airport, so that’s nice. I wouldn’t say the staff was overly helpful or kind. They were ok. The listing makes it seem like the hotel will help set up exciting things to do and that’s not really true. There’s things to do around but you’ve got to figure it out yourself. Keep in mind, you’re secluded here. Every time we needed help at the desk, we had to find someone. They helped us but we always had to wait and ring a bell or go looking around outside. Including at check out. The food is ok. I agree that it’s unfortunate that we could only eat there. The rules are you can’t bring any food from outside into your room. Cleanliness I’d say is a sold meh. I keep saying “ok”. But that really sums all of it up. Experience, food, hospitality, location = ok. Boutique? Absolutely not. Also, the TV didn’t work at all. There is AC but we never figured out how to use it. There is a laundry service, and that’s nice.

I arrived late in the day and it was not a problem. It is in my profile that I don't speak Spanish, so the owner (who speaks English) came to greet me and make sure everything went well. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. I frequently came in late and there was always a friendly staff member to greet me. The property is beautiful. I was very pleased and will stay with them again on my next trip to Cartagena.
