There is a raisin museum in the village that opens at weekends. The church of San Mateo dates from the 17th century and can be visited throughout the week. The main square hosts 4 friendly cafe bars, and there are 2 restaurants a few minutes walk from the square that open from Wednesday to Sunday. Streets in Almáchar are narrow and some are quite steep. There is a small car park 70 meters from the house which is mainly used as a drop off area. The main parking area is a 6 or 7 minute walk from the house. One of us will be available to meet you and help you with your bags on arrival.

The easiest way to visit Almáchar is by car. This provides the flexibility to explore the surrounding areas. However, on Mondays and Fridays there are 2 return buses per day down to the coast (Torre del mar). Tuesday to Thursday there is only one return bus per day. None at the weekends.
We are 19km from the beach, this takes 25 minutes to drive in a car.
The local shopping center, El Ingenio, hosts many restaurants and a multi screen cinema, and is just a 20 minute drive away through the countryside.
Malaga Airport is 48 km away, and takes approximately 50 minutes by car.
