Our family of 6 loved the house, pool, and beach. A bathroom with each bedroom helps so much, though the mattresses were kind of hard. The location, totally remote, feels very private. We would definitely recommend Bernardo’s place.

Bernardo's place was perfect for our family gathering - a comfortable, beautiful spot with a great, clean pool. He was also very helpful during our stay, we needed some local advice for booking a medical appointment and he helped out like he was a member of the family. The restaurant down the beach (Restaurante y Marisquería Compás Antiguo) and owner/chef Martin is 5 stars, worth the walk or short drive. Note the beach is rough for swimming, big waves break near shore. Would definitely recommend! Just make sure you take the toll highway (27) if driving from San Jose - a much easier drive.

A beautiful tropical getaway on a very quiet beach. We enjoyed a week of pure sunshine, ocean waves and breezes, macaws flying overhead, a lovely pool, and a few capuchin monkeys in the trees. We rarely saw more than 5 other people on the 3 mile beach, and there’s adequate security for peace of mind. While major attractions are a bit of a drive, the two restaurants in the adjacent village are wonderful, grocery stores and fruit stands aren’t too far away, and we appreciated having the beach practically to ourselves, especially on the weekdays. Other than the fact that bedroom 2 needs some weather stripping on the door to keep out curious critters, and there were no hot pads in the kitchen, it is a wonderful spot… and the host is very kind and responsive. Highly recommend this beach house.
