Communication prior to arriving wasn't great. I myself had to chase up the host to pay the tourist tax and for a link to their own check-in as they require. I would have expected them to provide links without asking. The address given on Airbnb is totally wrong and only because I chased it up was I given the right details. Emails from Portvil contained the same paragraphs repeated over and over again, but proper info was hard to get out of them. Considering the big price of the property, no essentials were provided (eg tea, coffee, cooking oil, salt, cleaning products - bar one 15ml sachet of detergent to last 5 people for a week) A man and his dog stay in the garden house which is a bit weird. Though the house was clean, in the garden were dog faeces and cigarette buds on the veranda. Pool loungers falling apart. No stair gates. The gravel road to the place is hair-raising, narrow and through a tight opening in a wall. Location and house itself are great, but management lets it down.

Please be warned! We were told that there would be no neighbours/ people living next to this property. However there is a man with a dog who lives directly infront of the patio who has a dog that barks constantly throughout the day and who has access to the property grounds. He was walking with his dog on the patio and had parked his car in front of the property too. If you wish to have privacy/ a quiet getaway, I would strongly urge you to consider this as it wasn't clear on the listing and they had told us we would have no neighbours. Basically we were lied to. Another thing to consider is that access to the property is via a very bumpy dirt/gravel road that might not be suitable for some cars. It is made of broken plant pots in some places! Also the key was extremely rusty and the gates were left open by the neighbour making it less secure. Otherwise, it is a stunning house and the surroundings (minus the neighbour/noise from them) are incredible. You've now been warned!
