GrayStone is a beautiful 4 bedroom chalet located right on the slopes! This beautiful chalet sits on a ski run. Guests with any type of mobility issues should be aware that accessing the home from the parking area requires walking on snow covered paths in winter. This home is situated above the original Burfield Lodge and there are no structural stairs up or down from the lodge area. Important - Please note this property only accepts Family Units or Couples; sorry no singles. This newly built (2020), ski in/ski out, self-catered luxury chalet, is perfect for families who want the true mountain experience. Attractive open-plan top floor invites families to play games together in front of the rock gas fireplace, or watch a movie while it snows outside! The village is a short 20 minute walk away on a forest path, an easy 4 minute drive, or take the free in-resort daytime shuttle bus (equipped to carry skis & boards) from the nearby bus stop. However, this chalet is so inviting you’ll probably never want to leave as it begs you to stay and cook in the new kitchen, which is accented with quartz countertops, high end appliances and views of the valley. The Burfield Chair takes you to the very top of Sun Peaks’ fantastic ski terrain, and from there you can access the whole mountain. Years ago, Sun Peaks Resort was once called Tod Mountain, a family friendly ski area. The Gray family acquired this 1960’s chalet situated on the ski slopes in 1972. The only chairlift at the time was the Burfield Chair, a 22 minute ride to “the top of the world”! The mountain was the Kamloops local ski area well known for its “champagne powder”. Four children were raised in this cabin, and were fondly known as the “Gray Girls”. This is where they learned how to ski every weekend with other Kamloops families. Tod Mountain would celebrate on special occasions called Wonder Weekend and Super Sunday where we would have competitions, costumes and BBQ’s. It was a small community with tons of spirit and heart. By 2017, the original cabin was slowly falling apart and looking run down. A decision was made to rebuild instead of renovate. The new chalet is on the exact footprint as the original structure but has 3 floors instead of 2. It is more energy efficient with radiant heating and energy efficient exterior structures called SIP panels. It was lovingly built with sweat and tears by the current owners two of them Gray Sisters. (Well actually, we couldn’t hammer a nail if we tried, it was more like the husbands built the cabin more on their own)! GrayStone Chalet was completed in December 2019.
