Dreadful Check-in experience: On the very first day of our experience, we arrived right on schedule for our planned check-in, around 6-6:30pm. (Per blueground check-in instructions, we were to arrive at the front desk of the building and retrieve the keys to our apartment which blueground was supposed to have left for us. The front desk looked everywhere, and they said they received no keys from Blueground. We also had a rental SUV full of our apartment's worth of belongings which I had to return to the airport within 2 hours of arriving at Blueground. Speaking with Blueground, they said someone should have left a key with the front desk, but there was no key. Blueground said that the keys must have been lost and that they were sending someone right away to go make new ones. We were embarrassingly forced to unload all of our belongings from the rental vehicle into the lobby and wait 3 hours for the key. Meanwhile, I rushed to return the car at the airport. I return from the airport and my wife is still waiting miserably in the lobby for someone to bring us the keys Blueground said they were making. We continued to wait for 3 hours, forced to reach out to Blueground ourselves every half-hour to get any sort of update. But here’s the worst part: we were told that someone would make the keys and bring them to us in the lobby where we were waiting with our things. However, after around 3+ hours of waiting, I call Blueground one more time and they tell me that someone already came and dropped off the keys! Clearly, no one had! Blueground left us waiting while they snuck into our apartment without our permission, left the keys on the table, and took off without anyone telling us we could start moving in! I don’t think you understand how infuriating this was. And it all leads to my next big issue, which was a matter of security. -Security & Keys: Because Blueground told us that the original keys must have been lost or misplaced from the first night, which is why we had to wait to check-in, now we had to worry about someone having keys to our apartment. Clearly, because of Blueground’s negligence and carelessness, someone must have a set of our keys, labeled to our exact apartment and everything. For weeks, we felt unsafe, worried that someone could walk in at any moment. I even had to set up a camera facing the front door just to constantly check on the place. Blueground kept refusing to change the locks. I was even able to escalate the case and spoke with Rainn, a Blueground manager who then changed the entire story, saying that the original keys were never lost, but instead they just weren’t delivered. Okay, so which is it, Blueground? Which time were you lying then? Were the keys lost? Or were they never delivered? Blueground refused to change the locks at their expense. Feeling angry, uncared for, and unsafe, I felt I had no choice but to attempt to escalate the issue myself by contacting the CEO of Blueground himself on social media, explaining the entire situation that Blueground caused and how we felt unsafe and uncared for. Then, “magically” Blueground has a change of heart, contacted me back, and told me they would be GLAD to change the locks for us… Are you seeing the pattern of neglect and carelessness that we experienced? Mind you, all of this happened within just the first few weeks of arriving! All of the above goes hand-in-hand with a general lack of communication or transparency/honesty at Blueground. -General lack of communication and mistakes: All of the above is example enough for what we had to endure dealing with Blueground just to try and live comfortable lives in your unit. It was impossible to contact anyone who cared or could do anything about our concerns. And it seemed insane that we had to go through Blueground to put in a maintenance request if we had one. In fact, we arrived home one day with a note from the maintenance department saying that they had completed our maintenance request and entered the unit themselves when we weren't home. But we NEVER requested any maintenance, nor do we EVER give permission to enter the unit without us being home. So, I contacted Blueground and they finally admitted (after more arguing) that the request was made by mistake, and it was supposed to be for a different unit. Whoops!… So, someone entered our home without our permission because Blueground is too incompetent to handle simple maintenance requests? All of this to say, I’m glad I’m gone and I will never be using Blueground ever again, and will gladly share my stories with friends and family regarding my experience because Blueground didn’t even care to try and compensate us or make up for any of these issues. I’m sad because it happened, but I’m angry because they don’t care.
