We loved our stay at this property,a beautiful,old style house,with a beautiful garden. I would definitely suggest a deep clean of the kitchen...cutlery, pans,everything needs a good scrub. Happy with all the rest,perfect location for a big group or family like ours.

Just returned from Plas Dorothea after a 2-night stay. I'm sorry to say we were all so disappointed in the accommodation on offer. The house itself is so run down and in dire need of an urgent upgrade its embarrassing to say. Bathrooms dilapidated, broken beds, no adequate hot water or heating and shortage of warm bedding. It was my wife's special birthday with our family but really turned into a nightmare. First night, my son tried to sort out the beds for my grandsons only to find the frame broken on the sofa bed. Tried the fold up and found the wooden slats/lathes broken. In the end they had to sleep in the emergency sleeping bags we brought with us and ended up with backache sleeping on the floor. Second night, no heating, no blankets or quilts and were told to buy our own logs/coal as you only supplied first bag. Mattresses were soiled and I was bitten by bedbugs! I asked for a welcoming bottle of champagne for my wife's birthday so she would get a surprise but found nothing. I did make it clear that I'd be happy to pay for it as an extra. We had intended to stay the full 3 nights that we'd paid for but left after just 2 nights as we'd had enough. This is the first time I've used Airbnb and if this is the typical standard of accommodation they offer, I'll give them a miss. I think it's only right in this instance that I receive a full refund as the whole family came away virtually in tears especially my wife as it was her 70th birthday.

House from hell This house was perfect for Halloween - generally in poor condition and unfit to rent! On arrival, we found the house was filthy. Bathrooms covered in grime and mould, the kitchen cutlery dishes and cupboards dirty, cobwebs and insects everywhere. The light in the family bathroom was broken and a battery lamp had been put out for guests to use. Okay, we thought, these things happen, so I contacted the owners who apologised and stated that they had problems with the previous guests and the cleaning company. The owners reimbursed us £100 for the unclean house. Before arrival, we had to pay the owners directly a £200 deposit so we were concerned that we would be charged for the multiple broken items in the house. Again, we contacted the owner, Glynn and, on request, sent him several photos of broken windows, stained carpets, a chipped stair, he assured us that our deposit would not be withheld Having scrubbed the house myself so that it was habitable, we later had further issues! Firstly the electric ran out. Unbeknown to us, the house was run on an electric meter. We contacted the owner again and we were told to take the key to the local store to add £100, we were reimbursed the money for this by the owner. Secondly, the house had a leak, directly onto my sons bed. Unfortunately, after heavy rain, water was running through the bedroom light fixture and dripping through the bulb. This tripped the electric and the upstairs lights did not work for the duration of out stay. More torches required! The owner called and apologised profusely again but stated that nothing could be done until Monday when we would be gone. He said we would be compensated for all the issues we had, but unfortunately we have yet to receive our deposit or an adequate refund. Overall, the house is very rundown. The flue in the bar area has a hole in it and there are several unsafe electrical points. It needs a deep clean and refurbishment to be suitable to rent. My family and I found the week we stayed here very stressful, you never knew what would happen next!

Great value house for a group wanting to walk and hang out in the bar room. A few quirks associated with it being an old property. Generally comfortable and warm.
