the location is pretty and near angkor wat. the bedroom was clean and the bed was comfy. however, air con did not work properly (it turned on, but air was warm), our private bathroom did not work and flooded on the first night. the owner’s son was very helpful as the owner was absent. the owner himself did not apologise nor even ask us about it in the morning. he was not concerned about our soaking wet bags or lack of paid-for private bathroom. the school at times felt ingenuine, as if the kids were there to learn in order for the owner to recieve praise and gratification and extra donations, although we question how much of the money spent goes on the school, rather than his brand new cafe. the location is very remote (20 min cycle in pitch black), and on our first night we asked if we could eat there but were informed we need to let them know in advance, which is hard if we dont know to do so. also we had to insist for our free breakfast. this place completely missed the family feel!

We liked supporting a great cause and staying in a large and clean room. The location is very far from the city so it is quiet, but we had some difficulty arranging tuk tuks to get around. We are traveling long term on a budget so we found that the bikes were too expensive to rent from the homestay but would have helped us to get around. The meals were also a bit more expensive than most local restaurants so we limited our meals there. It was a great location for seeing Angkor Wat and, although we missed the classes due to the holidays, to interact with local kids. I do wish we had more interactions with the host and family during our stay to learn more about the school and the community.

When you visit Chheak's home you are not just staying in accomodation, but rather a sharing in his family. Chheak and Channy are a lovely couple who have three very intelligent, caring and respectful boys ......who also know how to have fun! At the Community School of Hope, Chheakand Channy have created a little piece of paradise that shows what can be done with passion. You will find all manner of fruit trees and kitchen herbs, chickens running freely, ponds filled with fish and tadpoles and the most creative ways of recycling everyday objects. Our room was impeccably clean; AC super-efficient, shower facilities beautifully set up for warm showers and bed super comfortable. One of our best days in Siem Reap was walking from Chheak's home along various roads and paths towards the city. Beautiful scenery. One of our best evenings staying in Siem Reap was spent preparing dinner with Channy whilst my son played with the boys, chased frogs and just simply had fun. I would 100% reccomend staying here!

A wonderful all around experience. So incredibly close to the temples and a great country location for a bike ride too. I used Chheak's advice and did the temples by Tuk Tuk for two days then on the third I simply jogged down to Ankor Wat (just 1.5 miles down the road) for an early morning sunrise. The room was terrific, clean and extremely quiet. The family is super nice and the meals I ate there were truly fantastic.
