What a lovely house! Very comfortable and beautifully decorated yet relaxed. Well-equipped kitchen, fabulous pool which was very well used in the heat! Neil is a great host, very helpful and responsive, and every recommendation he gave was spot on. We loved it!

We stayed two months and found Neil’s place perfect. In particular the backyard is an oasis with an amazing lap pool and lounging areas. The house is very comfortable and nicely decorated with a wide variety of novels to relax reading. We made regular use of the well-equipped kitchen. Shopping was convenient at the Aki supermarket down the block and at the local market in Santiago. Panaderos come around each evening selling fresh baked bakery items - just listen for the toot of their horn. Getting downtown is easy, grabbing a bus in front of the Aki supermarket. Neil is very easy to talk with and responds quickly to questions. He has a wealth of knowledge in his house manual.

The house was great and had everything we needed. Each room with its own bathroom was fabulous, as was the AC in 3 rooms. Neil was quick to respond to questions and a generous host. The house, although within walking distance to Centro, was a bit far from any of the action. Calculate a 20-min one-way walk or Uber for any activity, including eating as no good restaurants were very close. The part that most impacted our stay were the stray cats that lived in the backyard. In our one-week stay, we had up to 4 different cats. The cats camped out in front of the door, followed you if you went outside, and sprawled all over the furniture, including on top of the table. There is also an implication that guests are to feed the cats (a note on the fridge and cat food in the pantry) which I find absurd. As someone who is allergic to cats, I am surprised this is not mentioned in the listing at all. It did not allow me to enjoy the patio/pool as much as I had wanted which is disappointing.

La casa es linda, super equipada con todo lo necesario. Habitaciones cómodas. La alberca fue lo mejor se disfruta mucho para refrescarnos por las tardes. Cerca hay tiendas y a 10 minutos en auto del Paseo Montejo. Excente estadía

*REVIEW FOR FAMILIES WITH YOUNG KIDS* Neil’s place was perfect for our 9-day stay in Merida! We were there with our 1yo and 3yo. We used his pack-n-play and high chair - it was so helpful to not have to travel with those! We also felt very safe because the doors locked by key so we knew our 3yo couldnt sneak out by the pool area. Speaking of pool- it was incredible! The backyard was clean and the pool was perfect. It was so refreshing and our girls loved splashing around. Parking was easy and it was easy to get to Plaza Grande by car anytime of day. There was ample parking available in the town center. It was walking distance to the zoo, parks, and grocery store. There was no bathtub but we easily made do with tubs of water for bathing the kiddos. It was relatively childproofed, we just had to move some knickknacks, books, dvds, etc out of the way so the kids didn’t break them. The bedrooms were relatively far apart so if you have young kids bring a babymonitor
