Some positives: A short walk from Prato Serraglio station Good security, both front door and room Good host, very helpful, bilingual Very clean Good location for walking into town (5 minutes from the cathedral) Friendly pet cat Some negatives: My room was cold, the heating never came on except for one evening when another guest arrived, then went off after they left. Not a problem in summer but not good in November. Couldn't open the internal balcony door for daylight. It may have needed force but I didn't want to risk damaging it. The shared bathroom was fine but the shower-head needed replacing and the hard plastic shower mat had many cracks, giving it sharp edges to stand on. (Inexpensive to put right.) There was no chair and a glass. These were instantly given once I asked. For 8euros more per night I could have stayed in a warm modern hotel with full breakfast, as my friends did.

A very nice place. The house is just 2-3 minutes walk from Prato Porta al Serraglio station, where could reach Florence easily. Generally, if there are not many customers, the visitor could occupy two plats, one is for rest and one is for the bathroom/toilet. Though near the train station, it would be quiet if you close the window at night. The host is a very kind and communicative lady, good at communication and providing mutiple suggestions. And the customer's privacy has been protected well. It would be a good place if you would like to come to Florence for a travel but worried the high accommodation price there, as it is just twenty to thirty minutes to Florence by train.
