Supermarkets
[SKLABENITIS]
The closest supermarket is located on the corner of 'Dimosthenous' and 'Mantzagriotaki'. Exit the building, cross the street and go left, then go right on the first street you find. Just go forward from there and you will find it on your right hand, after crossing 'Irakleous' street. It's about a 3-5 minute walk from the house.

The supermarket i usually go to is located on 'Thiseos' and 'Atthidon' street, and has a bigger collection of items to choose from and slightly lower prices on most items, and some good deals on others. You exit the building and go right, until you see 'Charokopou' street, where you will take a left and continue until you find 'Thiseos' avenue. Take a right (don't cross the ave.) and you will see it on your right hand. It'll take you about 15' to reach the supermarket from the house.

Parks & Rec
[Nea Smirni]
The closest park is pretty decent, i like to go there sometimes and relax after taking a nice walk in the plaza above, that's usually filled with people of all ages enjoying their day with a nice cup of coffee and each other's company. The park itself is in a more serene setting, located beneath the 'Estia', the library and cultural center of 'Nea Smirni' which is the neighboring suburb. You will find the park on the other side of 'Siggrou' avenue by taking a left after exiting the building, another left and then a right turn. Keep going until you see a pedestrian underpassage that leads to the other side of the avenue, and once you have exited from the other side, go right, left and you will see it across the street.
If you continue on 'Plateia Chrisostomou Smirnis' street and pass the 'Estia', you will find an opening that leads to the plaza of 'Nea Smirni', where you can find all sorts of nice coffee shops and eateries, ice cream and burger joints, banks, a well supplied pharmacy, a Starbucks and much more. Next to the plaza is the 'Alsos', which is a basically a small forest where people go to jog, use the bodyweight exercise machines, or just relax under the mediterranean pine trees.
[Stavros Niarchos]
My absolute favorite place to be in is the cultural center of the 'Stavros Niarchos' foundation. It used to be a horse racing track which was abandoned some years back until it got bought by the foundation of the wealthy ship-owner Stavros Niarchos, and was transformed into a beautiful center for the arts. Equipped with a huge library and abundant reading space (except for the greek S.A.T. season when the teenagers go there to study), a nice calming body of water nicknamed "The Canal" and a 210.000m2 (almost 52 acres) Mediterranean themed garden, with several interesting activities waiting to be discovered behind the well-kept foliage. The whole compound was built with great taste and i find myself spending hours there, either studying or just enjoying life.
Getting there is a 25 minute walk but it's well worth it in my opinion. You can also get there via transportation, if you take either the B2, 126, or the number 10 bus from the 'Strofi Neas Smirnis' bus stop which is located on Siggrou ave. Exit the building, go left, left again, then right on Siggrou and continue until you find the bus stop (do not cross the avenue. Buses on the other side take you towards the centre). Get on the B2, 10 or 126 and get off at the 'Onaseio' stop and keep going in the same direction as the bus and eventually you will see it on your right. Otherwise, if you want to go on foot, just exit the building and go left and keep going on 'Doiranis' until you reach the end of the street, where the Stavros Niarchos park is located!

My apt. is located really close to 'Siggrou avenue', near the bus stop 'Kianous Stavros'. The avenue has bus stops for multiple buses that can take you either direction, to the beach or towards the city center, depending on which side you take the bus from (for the city center you have to cross the avenue through the pedestrian underpassage).
