Lanai Hale -位于Lanai市中心的Lanai岛上的种植园式房源 两间卧室、两间带全床的卫生间和两张单人床
First time at Gary’s place in Lanai. Will go back for our next trip. Quiet bedrooms, kitchen easy to use, and nice lanai to relax on. Mahalo for being proactive on any questions I had. Aloha Michael
I had an interesting and often beautiful time on Lanai. I arrived at night and struggled a little with the lockbox, which was in a slightly different place than the host's message had said. Gary was immediately reachable by phone and was helpful with that and with a later question about the wifi password (which is in small type on the back of the router). I do think that the lodging is overpriced. The house is old and has a lot of vintage charm but is musty and with fixtures that could use replacing. I also saw at least one roach. The nightly rate is similar to the ones quoted by the hotel in town, and the quality of the accommodations just doesn't merit that price. I felt a bit taken advantage of because I didn't realize that four months in advance wasn't enough to find available lodgings on Lanai.
You’re expected to provide your own toilet paper, dish sponges, and detergents for laundry and the dishwasher. Both bathrooms had dirty sinks upon arriving and less than half a roll of toilet paper. The old sponges, two half empty rolls of TP were part of our “starter kit” we were told. They didn’t inform us the house was under construction for a new roof and there was a huge hole in the kitchen ceiling 3x4 feet covered in plastic sheeting. The contractor guy had a bunch of nails in the grass where we parked and walked which isn’t ideal obviously. Upgrading the roof and repairs are inevitable but guests should be informed. Lots of mosquitos in the house maybe from an open window or screen. We didn’t expect luxury as lanai is very limited in places but they could definitely put a bit more effort into cleanliness, and providing the basics. Overall not terrible. Washer and dryer was a plus.
The good… -close to downtown, restaurants, shops, and grocery store -cleaning lady was very nice -bathroom was clean -We did not see any bugs which can be a problem in Hawaii. -washer and dryer The not so good… -mold/mildew smell especially in bedrooms, visible mold in areas -We walked into the kitchen to find a 3x4ft leaky hole in the ceiling. I understand the logistics of Lana’i being an island and supplies to fix these problems are not always at your fingertips, but I feel like we should have been made aware of this prior to arrival. This is our 4th time to Lana’i. This house served its purpose of a place to stay with a couple helpful amenities. I would consider staying again once the kitchen is repaired.
