La Cueva de Morgan is the perfect place to get away from it all! My boyfriend and I only stayed there one night, but it has been the most memorable part of our stay in South America so far. We travelled by bus from Medellin to San Rafael and then took a motorcar along a bumpy country road to a bridge where Maria was waiting for us. The retreat was a 5 min walk across the river, past a herd of cows and along a dirt track. When we got to the retreat, we were greeted with delicious fruit smoothies and then shown to our room. It was very clean and comfortable! Since we arrived late in the day, we only had time for a quick swim in the river (there’s a track along the river and we picked a spot that was still sunlit) before enjoying a beautiful dinner of tortillas filled with meat and vegetables, and then we called it a night. The next morning, we filled up on a big breakfast of local fruits and scrambled eggs with veggies and then set out for a walk up the river to an incredible swimming hole (Maria gave us water shoes and poles so we could safely walk upstream). There, we spent a few hours swimming, snorkelling, and reading in the sun. It was so peaceful and a wonderful place to relax. Maria was kind enough to let us checkout late, so we stayed for lunch (three delicious courses, including soup, baked whole fish, and cake!). Then we said our goodbyes and took a motorcar back to San Rafael to catch a bus back to Medellín. Maria was so friendly and welcoming and very patient since we don’t speak much Spanish at all! At times we had to us Google Translate when things got to confusing! For anyone thinking about visiting La Cueva de Morgan, do it! Maria will look after you and you’ll have a wonderfully relaxing time in the beautiful Colombian countryside.

Estuvimos con nuestro bebé y la llegada fue bastante fácil; desde donde dejas el carro hasta donde se duerme es bastante cerca. Se puede disfrutar del río en las instalaciones, no tienes que desplazarte. El alojamiento es en una habitación amplia pero dentro de una vivienda familiar. La comida es bastante buena. Yolanda y Carlos son bastante amables.
