The cabin is RUSTIC. Pros: The beds were comfortable and we had a roof over our heads. The “neighborhood” was quiet and peaceful. On the downside, it’s NOT worth the cost; I don’t say that lightly. This is the *first time* I’ve ever left this kind of review. The cabin had dirty, uneven floors with nailheads sticking up everywhere (you have to wear shoes inside and my 72-year-old mom tripped on the floorboards a couple times); coffee maker was filthy (we cleaned with vinegar and when that didn’t work I tried a soapy sponge; we ended up going to town and buying a new one); smoke alarm was beeping and there no batteries; it snowed 10” and there was no shovel, so we had to use the flimsy broom to clear a walking path on the porch; the breaker kept tripping (there’s a 10-amp breaker servicing 3 space heaters, the microwave, refrigerator, etc); and the plethora of personal family photos with dead animals was just over the top. Everything just felt so gross. Stay somewhere else.

My family & I were quite disappointed with the lack of modern amenities and poor maintenance. The cabin is outdated, and I was disappointed to find no condiments, snow shovels, cozy throws, broom, or mop to keep the place clean. The sink was clogged, & the food disposal was non-functional, which made things even more inconvenient. Moreover, the cabin was dusty and had cobwebs everywhere, indicating a lack of proper cleaning. The rental company does not do a good job of maintaining the cabin, and they should, at the very least, provide lighter fluid & matches to light up the wood stove. Even though there was a washer and dryer, we had to provide laundry detergent & all sorts of other stuff, which was frustrating. The rental was not worth the price we paid per night. We left two nights before our checkout date. I would not recommend staying here. Our privacy was obstructed by the two video surveillance cameras facing straight into the kitchen window.

The Wiggins Cabin is a beautiful getaway that offers the opportunity to relax and enjoy the scenery. The cabin is adequate for 11 people and has mostly everything you need. The kitchen was missing a few expected things such as a strainer, grater and blender so if you’re planning on using those for your meals bring your own. The heaters provided for the bedrooms were nice since we weren’t able to use the fireplace due to fire restrictions and couldn’t find any other source of heat for the house, however one of the heaters was so loud we couldn’t use it cause it would keep us up, so might be a good idea to invest in some new ones. Also just a word of caution; the loft is located over a bedroom and trust me that you will hear every bit of movement from that loft if you’re in that bedroom. Just an FYI when you’re picking bedrooms 😉. Overall it was a nice stay and we had a great time.

The Good: The cabin is decorated like you’d expect a “cabin in the woods”. The kids all loved it. Plenty of space to sleep our 4 adults and 5 children. It was nice to have a washer and dryer! Not too far from the little town and everything felt clean. The Bad: The cabin is surrounded by mud so our vehicles and shoes were caked in it. There is no dishwasher so washing dishes for 9 of us by hand was a bummer. There is no dumpster nearby and they will not pick trash up. They’ll charge you a fee for leaving any so having to take our trash into town put a little damper on things. Check-in is late at 3pm and check-out is early at 10am. Trying to get all of the “chores” ie dishes, trash and packing done before 10am doesn’t feel like a vacation. This was a pricey cabin and a cleaning fee of $195 was included. People should not have to work so hard when they are paying so much money.
