My family and I travel to the Leelanau peninsula often so we know the area very well. This place is a good rental but could be much better. Cons: -the house was 85 degrees when we arrived. I understood there was no AC and that’s never been a problem before in other rentals but this house is like an A-Frame and holds the heat. There are ceiling fans and one box fan for a window and two tiny fans that probably put off more heat then what the could circulate out. So for the first 48 hours of our stay we only slept in the home and had to find things to do elsewhere. -there was no umbrella for the table on the deck and the deck is full sun 90% of the day. -the deck is old and really needs some TLC. It’s sturdy enough but be sure to wear shoes when walking on it or down to the water. -the row boat leaks and there’s no anchor so trying to fish on the lake is a no go. -there are DVD players but no movies at all so bring your own. -the rental was not worth the $1,600+ we paid for our stay. Pros: -the location is great -the Broomstack isn’t far and a great spot for dinner. The pizza is amazing! Market 22 is literally a minute drive down the road and has great sandwiches also (little pricey but that’s what you get up there) -fishing off the dock was a major hit with my kids. The caught around 50 fish (all small perch and were released). Also lots of minnows for the kids to try and catch with nets also. My 8 year old daughter even caught a 19 inch large mouth bass off the dock with her princess fishing pole. -lots of wild life around. Seen lots of birds, frogs ducks, beavers (or could have been otters) and snakes. Even watched a snake catch and eat a frog (kids thought it was cool to see) -sunrise on the dock is a beautiful site to see. -the home was sufficiently stocked with everything we needed and the new furniture was a pleasant surprise and very comfortable. All in all the place is nice but simply (in our options) not worth the money we spent on it. Could very well be worth the price if the issues were addressed and a few simple upgrades made.
