From the beginning, the communication with Gypsea was exceptional. I had a few questions prior to my arrival that were answered in thorough detail within 24 hours of my submission. The hosts provided me with ample information prior to my arrival as well as detailed instructions on how to get to the location of their bungalows. Upon my arrival, I was offered fruit, a smoothie as well as a grilled cheese as I settled in. The place was sparkling clean and the grounds are beautifully maintained. Both Bob and Liz are very personable and welcoming and they're up for discussions about all sorts of interesting topics!! The day after my arrival, Liz invited me to go for a scooter ride into town. We made a pit stop at the beach and each enjoyed a one hour massage. After that, Liz treated me to a really cultural experience at the local market in Ampenan. She did not need to do this as it was certainly going above and beyond the responsibilities of being an airbnb host but she wanted to ensure that I was comfortable venturing around on my own. Bob helped arrange for a scooter after giving me a hands-on tutorial with their scooter to ensure I'd feel safe and confident driving a rental. Liz's yoga classes are great and she is clearly passionate about the practice! The daily breakfasts are great... I really enjoyed the menu of smoothies as well. The location is very quiet and you are truly living among the local villagers who are very sweet and offer up warm smiles. The location itself is beautiful... off the beaten path but not far away from great restaurants and beautiful scenery!! Definitely book a stay here, you will love it!! :D

I had the pleasure of staying 8 days at Gypsea. At first it was like most other 5 star experiences - clean, thoughtfully appointed, cheerful room with excellent hot shower, beautiful grounds with fruit and flower trees, the most peaceful sunrise and sunset, several pretty beaches close at hand, plus excellent on site catering (get the vegan mexican buddha bowl, I’m not vegan or Mexican or Buddhist but it hits all the right spots). But there is also a very real spiritual energy here. I travel alone and normally carry my iphone or a book around so I can busy myself. But there was some kind of hand telling me to just stop and listen and have dinner without burying my head in something. Liz ended up walking me around the property and telling me her construction woes, two painful years and the last of her savings before she could open the doors here. Later that night the 7.0 Lombok earthquake struck, shaking everything and everyone for about 30 terrifying seconds. We were lucky in that everyone on the property was unharmed, but the place was badly damaged, and the aftershocks were strong, sending us into panic each time. Liz and Bob remained calm. Helping me and the other two guests gather our essential belongings and bringing everything to the garden away from any walls. We checked for tsunami warnings on our phones, but Liz and Bob also drove down to the beach amidst the mayhem to check to see if the tide was receding. A herd of people was clamoring up the hill behind Gypsea, and in a panic we might have followed, but our hosts told us the safest place to be would be in their garden away from the mob. The tsunami warning had cleared and we had enough food and water here for a few days. I can’t explain how frightening this all was, yet how safe I felt with Liz and Bob looking after us. They did not falter in the subsequent 7 days. They hauled mattresses out from the rooms with sheets and loads of pillows so we could sleep in comfort. They fed us 3x a day (not just beans and boiled eggs either!) and hauled water from the one tank which didn’t burst, so we could do some washing and ‘flush’ the toilet. They cared for our needs and forgot their own, as well as the villagers who came by needing a helping hand or tools or some food. We would help out with clearing the debris each morning, then Liz found us a place in town where we could shower and take a break from the afternoon heat. They always made it feel like we were helping them when it was the opposite. I’d never met people who actually live the philosophy of giving freely. If they are like this during crisis without water or power or proper sleep, it must be real magic all the other times. In the meantime...

We’ve just finished wonderful stay in #gypseayoga. It was pleasure to be guests of Liz and Bob - nice and hospitable people. I love sleeping close to the nature, feeling inside after yoga’s lessons with Liz, wonderful trip to water holes with nice gypsea yoga people.

Ich war im Atena-Bungalow, der offen ist. Dies ist auch bei Regen kein Problem und wunderbar in der Nacht, da man in geschlossenen Räumen meist schwitzt oder sich durch die Klimaanlage erkältet. Ich habe viele neue Leute bei Gypsea Yoga kennengelernt und auch Freunde gefunden. Liz und Bob sind selbst sehr liebe Menschen und Bob hat uns auf eine klasse Tour zum Wasserfall im Norden begleitet, die Liz für uns geplant hat. Ich empfehle einen Roller um sich die Umgebung ohne Taxi anschauen zu können, aber der nächste Strand ist 10 min fußläufig entfernt. Die Smoothiebowl zum Frühstück ist klasse! Und das Essen ist generell sehr lecker. Ich habe die Zeit bei Liz und Bob sehr genossen. :)

Wir hatten zwei sehr angenehme Tag im Gypsea Yoga Place. Die Unterkunft liegt in einem wirklich noch ganz ursprünglichen Dorf auf Lombok. Man mitten in der Natur und umgeben von Palmen und Urwald. Die Unterkunft lädt zum stundenlang Lesen in der Hängematte oder einfach nur entspannen ein. Wenn man Sengiggi erkunden möchte, braucht man auf jeden Fall einen Roller, aber den kann man über Liz mieten. Das Frühstück ist sehr lecker, frisch und mit wirklich guten Zutaten zubereitet und vor allem sind gesunde Varianten möglich. Insgesamt ist das Essen für asiatische Verhältnisse relativ teuer aber geschmacklich & qualitativ wirklich sehr gut. Wir empfanden die Atmosphäre als sehr familiär. Es ist also auf jeden Fall ein Ort, wo man sich viel mit der Gastgeberin und anderen Gästen austauscht.
