The SPARROW SITE (see map in photos) is a drive-up camping site. It has a tent pad, picnic table, is partially treed and has a private trail down to the creek. It is a short walk to the auxiliary building (toilet) and not too close to the animals. We are a working farm and host agro-tourism camping. It is important that you read our write-ups to know more about our space. Please read this entirely: *Do not book here if you intend to throw parties or disrespect our space.* Our SPARROW site is a drive-in site and has a picnic table, tent pad, fire ring and a private path down to the creek. We sell firewood. Propane cookstoves/BBQs may be recommended in the event of a campfire ban. *All children must be SUPERVISED. We have farm equipment, animals and a body of water that all can be dangerous. Our auxiliary building is a short walk from this site and it has: -ping pong table -plugs to charge your devices -a flush toilet -and a sink for filling water jugs or washing dishes. -NO SHOWER This building is effectively our barn and is shared by all campers and farm hands. We are on septic. Please only use the toilet paper we supply and flush nothing but the tp and your waste. For your convenience, we allow our campers to charge their phones/small electronics in here but please do not plug in large items like cookers or hair dryers. We try to create private camping spaces throughout our woods while respecting the wildlife that calls this place home; Deer and hare have many sleeping spaces here. Our farm is 10 acres, mostly forested, with a salmon spawning creek and we're across the street from the ocean. Our farm is non-cert organic and we grow a large variety of produce and flowers. Our farm is home to many lambs, chickens and ducks. Our campsites are part of our agro-tourism program and we offer education on animals, growing, plant identification, composting or permaculture. NOISE *Farm life starts early* Our animals are up at dawn and they make noise. If you don't want to hear farm animals this is not the place for you. Matthew runs a motorcycle shop out of our garage so during the day you may hear motorcycles or a compressor running. We have two children and they love to meet other kids. We have a golden retriever who is friends with everyone. We have farm cats.
Lovely farm with cute animals and friendly host! A beautiful nice and quiet place to stay :)
Lovely private campsite with a flat tent pad. The communal dish washing station made washing up so much easier. The friendly sheep were a fun distraction.
This placeis a quiet little gem that has all the charm of being home and on the farm. Even the roosters will be happy to welcome you to the start of the day..!
Loved my stay, clean and peaceful. That was my second stay and will definitely come again!
We're away from it all but close enough that it's convenient.
We have no light pollution here so the star gazing can be unreal.
We love our close proximity to both the ocean and the lakes. We appreciate the quiet farm life.
Vancouver Island, as a whole, is our favourite place on Earth. We traveled around the world trying to find the spot we loved the most and we chose to settle here.
Qualicum Beach is a quaint little town that still has a small-time feel because by-laws do not allow for any big box stores. Stores close on oldschool hours. Usually closed on Sundays and after 5pm on weekdays.
The beaches here are so lovely. The beach across from us is mostly large rounded rocks but we have a huge amount of sealife. Many seals and sealions (you can hear them barking from our property in most months -especially spring.)
Close to us you will find Horne Lake Caves. A day trip here is awesome. The wind tends to pickup around 1 on the lake so we recommend a morning swim/canoe and then an afternoon trip through the caves.
About an hour drive from our place is Mt Washington. This is an unreal place for winter sports and only charges a fraction of what resorts on the mainland charge. Summer sports here are great too.
We recommend checking out Cumberland Village. Coombs (Goats on the Roof). Rathtrevor Beach in Parksville (huge sand beach). Little Qualicum Falls (waterfall hike).
We're not near much public transportation.
There is a public transit bus that passes us twice a day. It's called DEEP BAY.
We are a 10min drive from Qualicum Beach and taxis are hard to come by. We are certainly not opposed to picking people up if they give us enough notice and pitch in for gas.
自我介绍
We're a Superhost family, who owns a farm and love to travel with our kids in the down season. We also own our own companies for graphic design and motorcycle repair. Both of our kids are quiet and respectful. They love animals, playing outdoors, reading and playing video games.
