Dingle · 农家乐里的独立房间 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Old Irish Farmhouse small double R4
This old farmhouse is situated beside the sea amid the most stunning coastal scenery of the Wild Atlantic Way on Slea Head. it is a great place to get away from modern life. Stunning sea views and peace and quiet. Ideal location for people walking the Dingle way. This old farmhouse (c. 150 years old) is situated beside the sea amid the most stunning coastal scenery of the Wild Atlantic Way. Indeed it is just beside the Signature Point ‘Ceann Sleibhe’ (Slea Head), indicating that it is one of the most beautiful parts of the amazing driving route. It is also on the Slea Head Drive, a beautiful driving route on the Dingle Peninsula, and just below the Dingle Way (Slí Chorca Dhuibhne), a terrific walking trail. It is surrounded by archaeological monuments, and by a working sheep farm. If you want to get away from it all (though the road can be busy in the summer), then this is the place for you. Views to the south-east, across Dingle Bay, of Carrantuohill, the highest mountain in Ireland, south across to the Iveragh Peninsula and west to the Blasket Islands (which can be reached by ferry from Dún Chaoin (Dunquin), only 4 miles down the road. Choughs and gannets abound in this area, and you might be lucky and even see a pod of dolphins passing. If you have an interest in film, you would like to know that some of Far and Away, starring Tom Cruise, was shot here, and much of Ryan’s Daughter was shot nearby. More recently, some of the Star Wars series is being shot only a few miles away – so they have certainly recognised how beautiful the area is! The Dingle Peninsula has probably the greatest concentration of archaeological monuments of any part of Ireland, and they are here for you to discover. Your host will be able to advise on visiting many sites, from Bronze Age to Medieval. Accommodation in the house consists of 2 bedrooms, two of which are doubles and 1 has a small single bed as well. There is a downstairs bathroom and shower, and a large sitting/dining room, which was the kitchen of the farmhouse. There is also a smaller, more cosy, sitting room. Your host, Aedán, has lived here all his life, and comes from a long line of farmers who have worked this land for centuries. He is very knowledgeable about living in the area, and can suggest plenty of excursions and activities for you. His family live nearby and will also be on-hand to offer advice and information. A light breakfast is provided, but there are no cooking facilities. A evening meal may be provided for a extra charge if you give the host ample warning. I usually stick to traditional Irish dishes. No wi-fi provided – the downside of being in a remote, beautiful area, surrounded by mountains! So a good place to escape from the hurley-burley of modern life. You can listen to the waves breaking on the cliffs below, and to the many birds which pass by. On clear nights the vista of a huge, starry sky is entrancing. There is ample off-road parking beside the house, but no public transport in the area, so a car (or bike for the hardy!) is necessary. English and Irish spoken. Basic French and Spanish. This area has inspired poets and artists – come and see what it might do for you!
It was an absolutely gorgeous place overlooking the bay! It was a working farm that was extremely peaceful and very much felt like home!
This spot was beyond our expectations! Aedan was so kind and spoke to us about the farm and the history of the island. We were able to pet baby lambs, see an amazing sunset from our front porch, and easily visit the town to have some good food, sea salt ice cream, and listen to trad music. We would absolutely recommend it to every one of our friends to stay and look forward to coming back!
Die Küche bietet alles was man braucht für einen guten Start in den Tag - sogar Eier kann man sich machen. Das Zimmer Nr 4 hat leider ein quietschendes Bett, aber dafür hat man eine wahnsinnig tolle Aussicht 👌
The only regret was that I didn’t book this place for longer. If you are driving into this part of the beautiful country- I highly recommend this place to stay for at least a couple nights!
You are out in the wonderful countryside overlooking the sea. The house is ideally located for walkers as it is just off the cosan na naomh walking rout. (The Dingle way)
There is no public transport so you will need a bike or a car. but you can walk if you like. The cost of a taxi from Dingle town is around €25.The house is on the Dingle way Walking rout so it is ideal for walkers.
