My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and small families. Set in town on 1/2 acre, the house is 1250 square feet indoors, with additional covered 300 sq feet under porches. Outdoor fireplace is fabulous at night, morning sunrises on the porch are even better. Valentine is extremely quiet with only 150 residents. The 1920 adobe house was completely rebuilt in 2010 and is very comfortable with high quality furnishings, fully functional kitchen and a large bathroom. House is equipped fully with cooking and dining utensils, linens, firewood, heaters in each room during the winter, window air conditioning, city water and sewer, parking room for RV, and is five minutes from Prada Marfa and 35 miles from downtown Marfa. The house is safe for kids over three years of age. The 55" TV is an Internet TV and our internet in Valentine is fast enough to watch most on demand services such as Netflix and Amazon video. My Amazon video subscription is included in the rental. There's also a DVD player and many DVDs in the house as well as a large record collection and a good turntable. NPR affiliate Marfa Public Radio is the primary terrestrial news source. The outdoor fireplace come with provided firewood. Guests are welcome to BBQ in the two on site smokers. There are two outdoor seating areas connected to the house. The train is several blocks away from the house but the house, being adobe, blocks out nearly all of the noise from the train when it passes.

Our family absolutely loved our time at David’s place. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were comfortable with plenty of linens and the shower had excellent water pressure. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace & listening to records in the evening. David was an excellent host, we had complete privacy yet David was always available to answer any questions via AirBnB. We look forward to our next visit.
I always look forward to staying at David's house in Valentine. This was such a convenient spot for the Valentine in Valentine event - the venue was a 1 minute walk. We especially enjoyed the outdoor fireplace in the evenings!
I needed lodging for some of my technicians who were working on private ranches near Valentine, and this location could not have been more perfect. David was incredibly responsive, answered all of our questions, and was friendly and flexible with out check-in and check-out schedule. Will hopefully be able to book this place for other field techs in the future.
Amazing one of a kind experience.
This is an interesting and quirky place to stay. Close to nothing, but you should know that. The record player alone is worth the price of admission.

Very quiet residential area in Valentine proper. A block and a half away on the same street as the Big Bend Mercantile building, home of the Valentine's Day in Valentine celebration. Away from the highway on the N. side of the railroad tracks.
There are no stores in Valentine, but the Post Office, Library, School and church are open. Driving by personal vehicle to leave town, biking or walking around in town is safe for all ages.

I have lived in Marfa since 2007. I'm a former City Council member and bar owner. I was the Presidio County Justice of the Peace for Precinct One for seven years. I am also a radio DJ on Marfa Public Radio. I am married to my awesome wife Hilary and we live in Marfa full-time. I love traveling, especially going to New Orleans, France, Mexico and everywhere in Texas. Enjoying good food, be it fine dining or tamales in a brown bag is a passion. I have experience in electrical work, construction and auto repairs and still enjoy working with my hands. In 2012 I left the world of traditional profit-focused business for good. From that point forward I have been involved in non-traditional businesses and public service.
