Can’t say enough about Russ place. This is a gem. The price was great and the space amazing. The hotel attached is unreal and a must see. I’m a super host myself and this was so much fun!
Was just in town to rest my head. Neat hotel. Friendly town. VFW was friendly. Dizzy Diner had a good breakfast. The guy behind the counter showed me all his cool agates from the River. Would stay again!
I’m always willing to take a chance on a place that advertises itself as “historic.” The Kempton truly fits the bill. It’s been in continuous operation for over 45,000 days - I love that! Lovely, antique Western furnishings in the lobby and throughout the hallways. We stayed in one of the little apartments in the back which was perfect for us. Our dog was welcomed and we wanted to eat in. Immaculate kitchen! We met Russ in the morning upon checkout and he gave us the history of the hotel and gave us a quick tour. We felt very comfortable and welcomed. Would definitely recommend.

Somewhat retired Contractor and Consultant as well as being an Amateur Western Historian and Bibliofile. Linda and I were both born on Ranches locally and have many "connections and family" in the area. We enjoy the history and stories of this 115 year old property that has never been closed. The Art, Antiques, and Books for sale on the premises keep us busy and "fits" nicely with our efforts as "Inn Keepers". Our goal is to provide a great experience for travelers as well as promoting the Calypso Trail and Terry Badlands. This undeveloped land virtually is exactly the same as when Lewis and Clark and later, General Custer, visited. We both support the Evelyn Cameron Gallery in Terry as she provided an incredible detailed account of early Eastern Montana life with her photographs. Come and experience an area of the Country driven by or flown over, mostly unknown by the American Public.
