Recently voted 3rd best medium size hostel in the world*, this bustling Hostel offers affordable lodging in dorms and private rooms to travelers from around the world. (*based on 1.1 million customer reviews of 17,700 properties across the world listed on Hostelworld in 2019.) Centrally located, in the historic and vibrant Northwest part of town, you can walk to most attractions. The hostel offers daily events, such as free walking tours, tap tastings, live music, and community dinners. In 1998, we opened our small 36 bed hostel. Over the years, we have grown from that original building, to a village of 6 buildings, all in the same block. Each building has its own character and special features with most built in the late 1800’s. You’ll find common areas, outdoor gardens and courtyard, 2 kitchens to prepare your own meals. In the spring of 2017, we completed construction of our 5th building, designed and built from the ground up! Here we added the final touch to our hostel, the Hostel Café! The cafe has become a popular spot for travelers and locals offering scratch made, classic American fare, 12 local beers, ciders, wine and kombucha on tap, as well as outdoor seating. Our friendly staff is knowledgeable about what to do and see in Portland and how to get there. We enjoy meeting travelers and showing them the best of Portland. Our staff has a variety of interests from music, art, nature and nightlife - and we are all travelers!
