Rysum is a small and tranquil ''Rundwarffendorf'' as we call it, because it was build as a circle with the church as the highest point in the centre. Rysum is one of the most beautiful villages in the municipality Krummhörn. The lovely little brick houses with their pretty front gardens and the historic farm houses define the cozy athmosphere in Rysum. Another unique thing is the church in the centre of the village which has one of the oldest active church organs of Europe (1895), close by you will find the charming restored windmill which is until today active by use of the wind from the north sea. Furthermore, Rysum offers a bakery which is open every day and only 750m away from the appartment, so freshly baked bread is guaranteed. On a regular base classical piano concerts are taking place in one of the old farmhouses.
The port Emden is only a 15 minutes drive from the appartment and offers different activities as for example shopping or visiting the art museum.
Another 20 minutes driving and you will be in the famous fishing village Greetsiel where you can enjoy the view on the boats in the harbour whilst enjoying fresh seafood from the North Sea. From the appartment it is only 5km to get to the ferry which is going to the North Sea Island Borkum. If you want to go swimming or wanna lie on the beach , you can go to the ''Knock'' , there is a small beach directly in front of the restaurant Strandlust, walking a bit further aside the sea another more quite and bigger beach is located which is perfect to relax. Furthermore you can go to the ''Trockenstrand'' in Upleward, there you can swim and sunbath on the dyke. If you do not wanna be dependent on low tide and high tide you can go to one of the swimming pools in Greetsiel, Emden or Norddeich.

Busstop in front of the door (''Rysum Ubben'') busline 422, this bus brings you to either Emden or Pewsum.
