The host was very friendly, generous and responsive. She was all the ready to make your stay comfortable and provide service. Food was excellent with clean drinking water. Gauriben showed us their family heirloom of embroidered apparels. Overall the stay was pleasant. The only limitation was that as we reached late in the evening, there was some trouble finding the place.

Dearest Gauri maa, It was wonderful living with your family. You inspired us with an example of how to lead a simple life. Here are some of our memorable experiences we had over the week. We reached Santalpur by 10 pm. Our hosts had already been waiting for us in the pick up location in a car. We loaded our bags and got into the car. Mehul Bhai, our host's son politely asked if we can wait for another 30 minutes as our host, Gauri Ben, was coming back home from one of her Seva meeting. And, 30 minutes later, she walking swiftly towards the car apologetically. We squeeze in the backseat of the car and were off. It's a long narrow road, lonely during the nights, to Gauri Ben homestay. Mehul Bhai, who was driving the car firmly assured that there is nothing to be worried about. He sternly said you can take any riskshaw here and say "Gauri Ben ke ghar", they'd would drop you. It was only couple of days later did we realise that those statement was true in every sense. We had reached about 11 pm at the homestay and Gauri Ben rushed to her small cosy kitchen made from cow dung. She quickly made couple of rotis and shared the shaq (curry) with us. We slept like a baby that night The following days usually followed a unique routine: We wake up to a hot adhark chai from Gauri Ben and her daughter in laws- Bharathi Ben and Reshma Ben. The chais are to die for. We usually have about 3 small cups. On the 3rd day onwards we were ready for the challenges thrown towards us. Right from Farming, learning to make rotlas, learning to make shaq. On one days we took time off to see the Seva works of all the Bens' of the community by visiting to a near by place called Radhanpur. We were shown the beautiful works of the community such as the embroideries. We also visited the Hansiba museum and blown away by the intricate art these people are expert at. We must say the journey to Randhapur was fascinating. We took the Chagada. A day in the farm my husband was down with body pains. We were hit hard by the reality of how the cottons and castor oils are produced. Ride back in Gauri Ben tractor was unforgettable. Evenings, my husband usually spends his time playing games with the local kids. A special mention Krisha and Krish, the grandkids of Gauri Ben. They were lovely and charming to spend time with. The males usually work in the farm and we see them usually during the meal times. Spending time in a village like Bakutra is nothing short of heaven. Warmth and love shown on us cannot be replaced back. Indeed, we are grateful to be with our family. Home away from home we'd say. Special mention to the following people: Shanti Ben, Bharat Bhai, Sanjay Bhai, our little friends- Varun and Baddu.
