Mark is a friendly, good-humored host. We communicated effectively before my check-in so that he was home to greet me and show me the amenities, which are all the ones listed on this app. What I liked the most was the bedroom, which had clean bed sheets and a comfortable bed. I had a good night’s sleep every night, as the area is quiet and so is Mark, even as he leaves to work pretty early. Secondly, but just as important, I appreciated that the bus stop is right outside: buses to the city centre stop there very frequently. I wanted a place to come back to easily after a day of visiting the touristy places but also connecting with the beautiful nature in Edinburgh. Overall, I think Mark’s place was the right one for me.

Mark is a very nice host. Having been away most of the time I haven't had many chances to see him, but when I have spoken to him he has been very friendly. He gave me precise directions on how to find the house and where to park. The services offered corresponded perfectly to the description and I found my room very clean. The house is also in a quiet area and the center is easily accessible by public transport. Also considering the favorable price, it is an accommodation that I would recommend.

The room was comfortable and clean, Mark was very kind and he gave me information about places to visit and things to do in Edinburgh. I'd come back to his house.

OK this review may be a little longer than I normally do because I would like to address some of the “issues” from the previous reviewer 1- in the UK “Villa” is a generic term… Read the description and the previous reviews it is obviously a two bed flat with a shared bathroom it’s not the south of France! 2- Cluttered… Well, it’s a bachelor pad of a guy with a full-time job and two or three side jobs so in order to have a room available his stuff is out in the main living areas… You’re not renting the whole house just a room 3- ditto for having to go through the living area to get to the kitchen yeah the guy lives there he’s gonna be in his house watching TV. It’s not a big deal I felt perfectly safe 4 - This is a budget accommodation priced well below market value and cheaper than man hostels in the area you get your own room and the lock is being installed on the door. It was exactly what I expected after reading the reviews and doing my due diligence research. I was very happy

The advert said it was a villa (mansion) with communal spaces. This is untrue. It's a 2 bed flat where guests stay in his spare room. I had to pass the living room to get to the kitchen so I felt I was disturbing him. Mark was lying on the sofa, so I couldn't even sit down. I asked about the communal space and he said the living room isn't for guests. It was messy and cluttered. The rest of the flat was OK but not bnb level presentation. I felt scared/ uncomfortable as a single woman staying in the home of a random single man I didn't know, as there was no lock on my bedroom door. When I told Mark I felt unsafe he was offended and said that lots of young single women, and men had stayed in his home without any issues. He said I'd made him feel bad in his own home. I cancelled and Air Bnb asked him to give me a full refund of £222 but he refused. He asked me to leave and threatened to call the police but I had nowhere to go. I nearly ended up sleeping on the streets. He didn't even care
