All the flooring on the stairs and upper floor is new and is a combination of carpet, laminate and vinyl. A shared washing machine and tumble dryer are located in separate utility room accessed from the front garden and available upon request. We are a family with two children (8 and 6) who live in the cottage next door. We use the garden to the front of the cottages so we ask that guests use the front door for access only and that care is taken to ensure the gate is closed as our children play in the garden and we don't want the deer coming in to much our flowers! The cottage has WIFI and for a more reliable connection there is an ethernet connection and an adapter to convert via USB. There is no tv but should you find yourself bored there is a selection of DVD's and a player to connect to the computer as well as a selection of board games and books in English and French.
Cosy comfortable house perfect for walking and talking, hanging out with friends. Peaceful location. Amazing views.
We really enjoyed our stay in Petrina’s cottage. It was cozy, well-equipped, and the views were just stunning! The location itself was beautiful, and made for a very pleasant walk into either Kilcreggan (which has a nice cafe for breakfast/lunch and a pub for dinner - we’d recommend the Fish & Chips) or Cove. Petrina was kind and communicative at all times. Overall, a great stay!
superb location, albeit slightly far out from any local shop, but wasn't an issue for us. Petrina always very quick to reply to any message. Flat itself was clean and the log burner made sure it was cosy in the storm weather we encountered! Would thoroughly recommend
Wir haben den Aufenthalt bei Petrina wirklich sehr genossen. Die Wohnung ist sehr gemütlich und komfortabel und die Aussicht ist einfach spektakulär. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
The Rosneath Peninsula projects south from Garelochhead, separating Gare Loch and Loch Long and forming the north shore of the River Clyde opposite Gourock.
The peninsula owes virtually the whole story of its development to the sea, though with two very different eras producing very different aspects of what you see today. Kilcreggan, at the southern tip of the peninsula, typifies the first period of the peninsula's growth. With Cove, to its north west, a visit to Kilcreggan is like stepping back in time. Kilcreggan Pier is the last remaining original Victorian pier on the Clyde, and as you look around from the viewpoint it offers, most of the buildings seem to date back to the same era.
Kilcreggan is a small villiage with everything you need close at hand and surrounded by breathtaking views and beautiful coastline. It has a small grocery shop, post office, an award winning butchers, a pub, café, bank, a retro vintage clothing shop https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/yvieretroandvintage and an antique shop operated by Roo Irvine (a BBC antiques expert) https://www.kilcregganantiques.com/
Kilcreggan and Cove grew during the era of the Clyde steamers from the 1820s onwards. Those who could afford to do so had their architect build a distinctive and distinguished house for them, from which they could enjoy distant views across the Clyde to the hills of Argyll.
Kilcreggan Pier not only survives, but continues to be used. It is the terminus for the ferry that links Kilcreggan with Gourock, on the far side of the Clyde. A short ferry crossing across to Gourock offers more options for eating and shopping. You can also catch the high speed train to Glasgow from the port in Gourock.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the Arrochar Alps which is only a short drive away. Faslane and Colport Naval Bases are also in close proximity.
We are located on School road in kilcreggan and there is a bus stop at the bottom of the road with an hourly bus to Helensburgh. From Helensburgh there are regular trains to Glasgow and the north of Scotland. The kilcreggan ferry which crosses to Gourock runs hourly (excluding lunch time) Monday to Saturday.
