The biggest problem with the stay was the skylights in the bedrooms. They have no covers on them and when daylight comes which in Scotland is very early and only getting earlier!! you are woken up by bright light and can’t sleep further.

I spent four weeks here and I had a wonderful stay. The cottage and its surroundings are very lovely, placed in absolute tranquillity in nature. The Cairngorms as well as the coast is not far, so the location is perfect for hiking and exploring. I can highly recommend it!

Lovely spot just outside of Forfar. Amanda's cottage is really spacious, beautifully decorated and felt very cosy as well. The cottage is in some beautiful countryside with lovely views and walks near to the cottage. I even saw some small deer wandering around the grounds... The hosts were friendly and really welcoming and helpful. I particularly enjoyed the Tunnocks Tea cakes and biscuits!! Definitely a special place!

Amanda is always friendly, accommodating, very helpful and ready to assist in any way she can. Lovely area to stay where walks and relaxation are in abundance. Close to amenities for sightseeing with adventure activities closeby. The Smithy is charming and very comfortable with embracing hosts. Thank you again Amanda & Fred, Mrs D.

The Smithy was a lovely place to stay and we would book it again in a heartbeat. It was hard to find as there are two properties in the area called The Cairn and Maps kept routing to the wrong one in Nth Muir, even when we put the correct postcode in. Amanda was aware and helpful. It was well worth the search when we found it!
