Small village located within a World Heritage Site and nature reserve. Beach and warm Indian Ocean on the east and Lake St Lucia on the west, with many forests, marshes, pans and coastal woodland in between. Nature and more nature, birding paradise too.
One 1.5km main street with shops, restaurants and accommodations. Small residential area with more accommodation and private homes.
Specialty shops with interesting items, Ants and Mustard sells "made in South Africa and local crafters" items, plants and herbs (seasonal), The Gallery is an art selling gallery and offers painting & craft activities for adults, children welcome & art cafe. Jewellery shop (in-house designs).
General shops: internet and digital items shops, outdoor gadget and clothes shop, stationery and business services, pharmacy, Bananabox butchery, laundry services, petrol stations, beach clothes, hair dresser, Kauai health food shop and coffee shop and churches.
Nature activities, reptile centre, walks around town, bicycle renting, birding walks, ferry boat trips on the lake, deep sea boat fishing/whale watching and trips, game drives, beaches with rocky shore, little bay for snorkeling and horse riding.
Between sunset and sunrise beware of hippos in the town, no walking the trails. Wild animals share living space.

Must have own transport. Walking to shops and restaurants is possible. Tours can be done self or guided with tour company.
