The house is beautifully and quietly located amongst - and with a beautiful view on - the mountains. We were a bit worried if it would be suitable to visit with small children (4 and 3 years old), but we were greeted by a collection of toys on site and our girls had a blast. A cafe with breakfast, lunch and dinner served by super friendly staff lies within walking distance and even sold packed lunches and basic supplies. Thanks to the helpful pointers by the owners, we managed to visit four stunning beaches, which were all within a 10-20 min drive from the house. Elafonissi is the most famous one, but the other three were also stunning, each with its own charm. Visiting in October meant we had them all to ourselves (not Elafonissi of course 😉). The pointers also included restaurants that were mostly located on the way to the beaches. Two nearby restaurants stood out for us: Krystalia Cafe and Glykeria. Amazing food accompanied by super friendly service! Highly recommended!

An absolutely beautiful place in peaceful location. Friendly host. Accomodation was just as described, with everything you need. A car is definitely a must if you are looking to explore the area.

This is a lovely AirB&B! We hadn’t been to Crete before; the island is much more populated on the North, with beaches on the South, so this location (roughly an hour from Chania) puts you away from large towns and closer to beaches. The village of Vathi has the main road to some of the beaches passing through it. It’s a very quiet village (mini-market, a great ‘Greek made’ shop, churches and homes only). Staying there, you really had a sense of ‘past times’ and what life must have been like years ago (but with Wifi and 4G).. The home, itself was clean and tidy, with all you need for a stay. We would get breakfasts in the local mini markets, before heading to the beaches and find local tavernas for lunch/dinner later.. there isn’t too much else to do/see in the area but that was fine for us! Kosmos taverna and Kedrodasos beach were our favourites, near by!

We loved stating at Iraklis family house where pictures of grandmathers and grandfather's hung on the wall, walls are stone and nearly a meter thick but you have all of the commodities of modern life (hot water, full kitchen, mosquito repellers and window nets). It you feel like slowing down and you are looking for quiet and relaxing this is a perfect place 20-30 min driving from fantastic beaches. Beautiful terrace and flowers everywhere. Word of advice if you are a new driver consider your skill (car is a must and parking is a bit daunting meaning narrow and with a slope). Also if you are one of those people who need to get up in the middle in the nite you shld be aware that the bathroom is on the other side of the terrace.. We would love to go back.

A lovely little house with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sweeping mountains of western Crete. Ερωφιλη was very helpful and clear in her communication in the weeks prior to our arrival. The house doesn't have an address in the conventional sense of the word, and upon arrival, one immediately understands why: it is tucked away underneath the village and away from the main road, surrounded by centuries-old stone walls, trees and chicken sheds, which makes it all the more alluring. The fact that the kitchen and the bathroom are apart from the main house takes some getting used to, but is no problem at all; one lives outside most of the time anyway. The western part of Crete is very beautiful, deserted when compared to the more touristy parts of the island. The beautiful beaches, that are all within 20 minutes driving, and visited mainly by locals. We were positively surprised by the fact that for one week, we didn't hear one word of Dutch or German. In all, we had a wonderful time.
