Pros Cleanliness - super clean Breakfast items - Much appreciated Location - on the side of a hill close to the castle so you get a good workout dragging your bags up Map location - is incorrect so you get an extra workout looking in the wrong place Unit below - for those who are socially curious you can hear the people talking in the unit below and they can probably hear you Conns Check in - In summary - we arrived in town at 5 PM and messaged the host as we still hadn’t received any check in instructions (as is the norm in the rest of the Airbnb world, including Portugal) So after 90 mins we managed to find the place, found the key and let ourselves in (still no instructions) For this we were accused of many heinous crimes. Casas later explained they don’t send out instructions. It’s up to the guests to call an request them. So for all future guests roaming on an international cell plan plse incur long long distance charges so that you can help Casas and co manage their many Airbnbs

Impossible to get a car directly to the front door but John assists with getting your bags from the parking.  Monsanto is a wonderful peaceful village.  And very unique with plenty of energetic walking around to be done.  A place to stay for the night once tourists have gone.   Restaurants were closed the night we were there (sunday) but there is a littly pub where you can see the sunset around the corner. Our welcome by John was first class.  Products from their farm were left for us - honey, jam, fruit, cheese, local wine etc along with biscuits for a light meal.  And the buns delivered in the morning gave us a great breakfast.  A wonderful experience by the hosts.  Newly renovated.  Stylishly done as well.  But expects to do lots of walking - its that type of village.

Great location, excellent view, well-stocked kitchen with breakfast provided. Responsive and gracious host! Finding space to park can be difficult and took some time, especially since streets are narrow. There was construction next to the house which woke us up in the morning.

Monsanto é absolutamente maravilhoso e fantástico… um local único de uma beleza indescritível. A casa é muito acolhedora, muito bem decorada e equipada. Uma estadia que superou as nossas expectativas e tornou a nossa visita encantadora. Os nossos filhotes adoraram o sótão e a vila, com seus recantos medievais. Uma experiência que irá perdurar nas suas memórias. O João foi muito simpático, prestável e tudo fez para que o nosso jipe chegasse o mais perto possível da casa. Obrigada! Voltaremos com certeza!! Até breve!
