Upon arrival at the Barn, we found check in easy with the lock box and everything exactly as described. It is an ideally quiet location for such close proximity to the town which is within walking distance. The property kept very warm and snug at all times and the bed was comfortable. Tea, coffee & milk were provided, and having the Co-op not far away was a real bonus - we did all our shopping there. The walk to the town is pleasantly and conveniently accessible via the footbridge which crosses the mainline railway, (this bridge is about 15 mins from the cottage). Every few minutes a high-speed train comes whizzing through which is a thrill in itself! Walk on a bit further and you cross the Chesterfield Canal, then the River Idle and on past Asda, directly into the town. Once you have sampled the delightful character and charm of Retford town with its newly restored canal, wealth of period buildings and authentic terraced houses, a day trip to Newark is thoroughly recommended.

had a great stay, perfect - very comfortable and cosy. Excellent communication and instructions on how to find the place. Very quiet and private location, well equipped, absolutely perfect for me for a week away for work, good location for all my visits. Will return when work brings me back this way. The hosts were very responsive and welcoming, and called round to say hello when I arrived, left me some of their chickens lovely eggs, and showed me how to use the heating system, which was very appreciated.
