We had a great few days stay at Utulivu. It’s a special Place and we were looked after very well by Maxwell, Eric and Alfred. The food is incredible and the chefs very talented. The property is immaculate - we would definitely recommend. However, the communication in the lead up was very poor and frustrating as we booked two months be4 and asked a number of questions, with no responses despite them being seen. As a result we finally got answers 2 days before our arrival on our 1st day of holiday whilst in Nairobi - leading us to scramble around to make plans - all of which could have been sorted weeks before whilst in Europe. Also we weren’t informed about the very high fees of $120 per couple per night - 4 nights is $480 we weren’t expecting. The road in is terrible and we weren’t told we needed a 4WD. Lastly there is hardly any wildlife for such high fees - zebra + impala only. We spent most of one day there trying to pay fees also. The management let the team on site down.

Staying at Lydia’s proved to be the perfect escape. A beautiful home full of worldly possessions to admire and views beyond compare. We were well looked after by the team and found everything to be clean and tidy.

Sangare is quite literally a slice of heaven and Utulivu House was definitely a sanctuary for me and my friends. If you're looking to shake off Nairobi hecticness or just take some time out, I would recommend 10/10. It's a well-travelled home that's an absolute joy to tuck yourself in away from everything. The staff were amazing: the food was always fantastic and they're super friendly and efficient. You can tell they take great pride and joy in their work and somehow managed to top what was already an amazing experience. Listen, do yourself a favour and book this place? Definitely going to be a regular for me.
