As an avid AirBnB user I was disappointed with the lack of professionalism displayed by this host. The owner would do well to reevaluate. We felt like a burden and inconvenience. Our texts were either unanswered or vaguely responded to (for example, we wanted to know what appliances were available on site and she did not respond). When speaking on the phone, the host was rude and seemed numb to her job. After driving 10 hours we arrived on property 40 minutes early. The host would not allow us access to the property at that time and said we needed to wait till 4pm. At 4:04pm I had to call again as we had still not been given access. She did not answer her phone this time but texted that the instructions to the property had just been emailed. No apologies, no empathy for our drive and efforts, no hospitality. Also upon arrival, we were greeted by two overflowing garbage cans to keep us company while we waited. To be understanding, I did not mention it as maybe pick up comes in the morning? I had to text the host the following afternoon, to which we got no reply again, although the trash was taken a few hours later while we were gone. Again no apologies for an unprofessional operation, and no desire to build a good reputation. We will not stay here again and would not recommend it to family or friends. We enjoyed Mt Rushmore and look forward to visiting South Dakota again soon but will take our business elsewhere.
