Lovely and peaceful escape. Tracey and Neil were great hosts. The house was spotless and very comfortable. Would recommend this stay to all who want to unplug and connect in a gorgeous location!
We had a great time at this stay. The place was tastefully decorated with fitting vintage pieces. It felt very clean. The sheets and towels were white and fresh. The towels were really nice quality. There were many nice touches like good board games, yoga mat, beside phone charger, and a great selection of books. The sheep were funny and it was fun visiting with them. We mostly stayed at the house and really enjoyed our time there. Also, the fireplace was lovely.
We loved our stay! Neil was so accommodating and responsive to our needs. The location was peaceful, rustic, and private! And the home itself was cozy and comfortable. Would definitely recommend for a romantic getaway!
The house sits in a valley that was historically dairy land, and all properties in the valley were originally female owned. People in the area referred to it as "The Valley of the Matriarchs". The creek was a Native American winter camp for hunting parties. The house was built in the early 1920's by Maggie and Delbert Steiner after they lived in a shack by the creek many years. There is a picture of the couple on the bedside table downstairs. The couple had 5 sons, and they were musicians. Locals say the house was frequently filled with area musicians who would come to play music together.
The house and the barn/creek and sauna are divided by a private road. The road is mostly quiet, but can be busier during hunting seasons.
