Really nice place to stay very peaceful only thing it’s far from a lot of the shopping center I would recommend staying at this place also the container has a really far entrance over 2 miles in I really love the place Mahalo Nui Ron
Ron’s place was an unique and interesting option to spend a night on the lava fields, He was very quick to communicate and gave clear instructions. It was nice to experience the silence and view over the solidified lava to the water. Felt like another planet with the beginning of the regrowth of the plants. Ron suggests to arrive in daylight and we would agree that is the best idea. The unit was clean, and beds were comfortable and rooms well decorated, love the sea glass wall hanging.
I want to start of by saying if off the grid is your goal, the location is perfect. Ron was very clear with instructions and responsive when needed. We did not have any run-ins with the cranky neighbor. If you follow his directions your stay will be peaceful! The home was clean and adequately stocked. We did not experience loss of power despite it being cloudy during our trip. It was breezy and cool, and we felt very safe sleeping with the windows open at night to keep the house cool. There were only a few negatives. First I want to mention that if you are a no shoe household and plan to walk inside barefoot DON’T. There are many areas where the floor is peeling and they don’t feel great if you catch your foot on them. The house does not have that cozy blue sleeper couch. It has a smaller, gray couch that is very uncomfortable. During our stay the oven and stovetop were inoperable. Ron was aware of the issue but did not mention it until I inquired. Could have been handled it better.

I have been a property manager and owner for 19 years. 30 years ago, I made Lantana my home, and I am proud to say it is still the great coastal town that I grew up loving. Whether you enjoy going to the beach, boating, shopping, or sampling the local fare, Lantana is the place to go - and stay a little while. I have also spent a lot of time on the Big Island of Hawaii, and like most, remain fascinated by all that it has to offer. This was why I took on the adventure of converting shipping containers into off-grid vacation bungalows on the lava fields of Kalapana. It was an adventure I will never forget. These lush interiors are situated directly on the lava field and under a night sky lit by thousands of twinkling stars.
