We were joining family that was staying at another property and needed a couple of extra beds. This property is exceptional and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and spaciousness which is a little hard to tell in the photos. The unit is above a detached garage with great privacy away from the hosts home. It is one large open studio space. Squeaky clean with gorgeous hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings and clerestory windows made it feel really spacious and airy with an abundance of light. The king bed was comfortable and there were plenty of extra pillows and linens. We weren’t cooking there but it was sufficient for our needs (good wine glasses and coffee cups ;) Loved the backyard private setting surrounded by the forest plus outstanding river views. Owners were very friendly, and met us with a bottle of wine in hand and fresh muffins left inside. Overall 5 star stay!

We had a fabulous time at Shining Eyes Cottage. We spent a weekend with my brother and sister-in-law just to get away for a little peace and quiet and have time to connect. The area has abundant wildlife, we were awakened by turkeys just outside the cottage. Each day there were deer in the meadow just below the property and we observed a bald eagle fishing in the river. Staying active is easy with river rafting nearby and beautiful rivers, falls, forests, and mountain lakes to explore. When you're ready to wind down for the day you can fall asleep to the sounds of the Selway River in supreme comfort. Sally and Richard have created a well-appointed place to relax and enjoy this corner of the Idaho Wilderness.

You won’t regret staying in these supreme accommodations. Quiet, beautiful, private and clean. I stayed here several nights during a trip across the country. This is my number one choice of accommodations. So far I’ve traveled 6,100 miles (1,800 to go). You can’t get any better than this. The view and sound of the Selway River is part of the charm of this beautiful abode.

Where to begin?? The Selway is a most wonderful river. In my mind one of the last best places! The hosts of Shining Eyes Cottage made a great weekend absolute perfection. The location and view were outstanding. The privacy and peacefulness unmatched and exactly what we needed and were looking for. The back doors opened to Adirondack chairs and table that were both great for kicking back in the evenings and for morning coffee. As for the well appointed cottage - a very comfortable king sized bed with great linens. We were treated to nice sitting area, a washer/dryer, larger dorm size fridge, and a beautiful spacious bathroom and shower. The kitchen had everything you could have wanted including a cheese block and knife which was a pleasant surprise! The blueberry muffins and croissants were an added treat - Thank you!! If i could give this 10 stars I would! We felt like we were in paradise!! Thank you to Sally and her husband for making sure we were comfortable throughout our brief stay. They are fantastic hosts! Side note - we brought up a traveler propane grill and had a great level space to cook up a steak for dinner. We left something back and Sally found it, but we’re sure to return and retrieve our unused griddle. I can’t wait to book again for a longer stay!!
