The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the house location was amazing. Mr Rashid & Mr Adil were extremely accommodating and allowed me to check in early. I got to the house super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The sevice was exceptional as well. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to visit Khartoum .

I spent five wonderful weeks in the house with garden owned by Mr. Rashid and felt perfectly at home. Since Mr. Rashid was outside the country, he referred me to his cousin Mr. Adil who helped me getting established. I’m very grateful to both of them. The current situation in Sudan is not the easiest, so it was good to have a contact who was caring. Whenever I needed something (from mere advice via a frying pan up to credit for the internet), Mr. Adil was there. I very much hope that when I’m in need for accommodation next time I’m in Sudan I can go back to this place. Thank you!

I came across the word 'bijou' this week. I think it aptly describes Rashid's place. A small and elegant apartment on top of a bigger house with a big garden right by the Nile. The brick and cement house looks rough as one goes up the stairwell to the 3rd floor apartment but the place's elegance comes from the beautiful view it affords as well as the books and artwork that surrounds the guest inside the apartment. From the south-facing balcony and through the apartment windows, I have enjoyed both the rising and the setting of the sun and moon. In the mornings, I woke up to chirping of birds. I stayed for two weeks and it can get desolate as the two lower apartments were not occupied but this is a place for those who enjoy solitude for a while. The gazebo by the Nile is a gem for reading and writing as well as for having a bbq with friends, especially as the big garden space allows for social distancing during this pandemic. I also felt safe even being alone as they also posted a guard during the night. Rashid's cousin, Adil, had been very responsive to my calls for help with electricity, water, internet, bbq grill, and other things. Every place has its pluses and minuses but you can always work out the minuses with Adil and Rashid. I will surely go back and stay again and I hope others will try too.
