1) awesome location. Picturesque, beautiful views. Truly unique place 2) hiking opportunities are amazing. Challenging, private hikes. We made it up the mountain to a lake and got close to some snow in September. Most interesting hike we’ve ever done 3) food is spectacular. A) Breakfast has diverse options. Served buffet style, but private between the few guests that stay. Chefs monitor plates and make more food when items get low. Smoked salmon is great. B) dinner is amazing. It’s not guaranteed to be offered every night, but worth it if it is. Very intimate affair. Chef is talented and passionate. Torstein is a great host. Best couple meals of our whole trip. Sourced ingredients from surrounding farms/nature. For example, venison filet from a deer harvested 2 days earlier, rare cloudberries from the mountains 4) Torstein is a fun and unique host. Very responsive, gave us great hiking advice and other suggestions. 5) free/easy electric car charging, AC/heat controls in room

At the end of a 11km winding one-way road lies this wonderful, exquisite oasis. Torstein and Eiwind have created an amazing and exciting sanctuary, that pays homage to the generations owned farm, but has cemented it firmly into the future. The designs and the comfort of the cabins is world class and the views on the surroundings - especially the lake - is magnificent. But the biggest surprise to us was the quality of the food served in the restaurant! Sat at a shared community table, we enjoyed three 4-course diners that would compete with top restaurants is capital cities across the world. Served with great international wines. If you’re lucky, you can enjoy one of the special Opera evenings (hence the name) that is being held at the converted barn. The interior is quite eccentric, but fitting to the purpose, and quite unexpected for the village Kandal. We will surely visit again!

The place is so peaceful and breathtaking. The host was very friendly and welcoming, the cabin was perfectly designed and decorated. Super clean and tidy. Location is for people who like to be attached to nature. I definitely recommend it.

Die kleinen Zimmer/Häuschen sind super! Modern eingerichtet, sehr luxuriös und mit allem was man braucht. Das Frühstück wahr ein Traum. Eine tolle Location, leckeres Essen und grandioser Service. Beeindruckende und sehr freundliche Gastgeber. Wir kommen wieder.
